Job Description:

Major Responsibilities

  • Serve as trusted adviser to the CHRO
  • Provide leadership over corporate and logistics human resource matters, with a high level of focus on talent management.
  • Actively participate as a key member of HR leadership team contributing broadly to (1) the CHRO's strategic agenda including targeted talented initiatives, (2) the resolution of a range of general management issues, which will include policy formulation, allocation of resources and achievement of the Company's key HR strategies, and (3) mitigation of risk due to employee relations and engagement.
  • Advise the CHRO with respect to their area's management and employee ownership strategy and programs.
  • Provide counsel to business partners on both the business and team member ramifications of such things as significant Company strategic imperatives, organizational restructures, and growth investments.
  • Manage the corporate and logistics HR teams to support the development and execution of aggressive goals, tactics, and programs. Promote a culture of high performance, partnerships, and continuous improvement that highly values development of the next level of leaders.
  • Ensure that leadership is advised of any proposed new legislation or regulation that may significantly affect corporate and logistics team members. Formulates and execute strategies to be in compliance with new legislation or regulation in partnership with their business partners and in alignment with the overall culture and values of the organization.
  • Develop and oversee preventive measures, particularly with respect to the legal risks associated with employee relations issues.
  • Oversee and manage the corporate and logistics HR expense budgets.

Leadership:

  • The VP must be a pragmatic, business-oriented HR professional of high intelligence and emotional sensibilities, and with demonstrated technical HR expertise and excellent judgment; someone who is both a big-picture thinker and attentive to details.
  • Must also have the ability to be the voice of our team members and the conscience of the company in complex matters requiring great tenacity and resilience.
  • Skilled in providing HR services to support a fast-moving business with a strong team driven culture; who leverages talent to successfully drive results in the context of larger business goals while staying aligned with company purpose and vision.
  • This executive must have considerable executive presence and a natural instinct and ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with others.
  • He or she will have a demonstrated track record in leading a HR function. Effectively manage, lead, coach and mentor a high performing, innovative team that puts a strong emphasis on developing talent, building bench and influencing skills within their areas.

Experience Required

  • A minimum of 10 years as HR professional or equivalent experience.
  • A well-established track record of working closely with the head of HR and the HR leadership team and a demonstrated ability to serve as a trusted advisor and contribute broadly to business strategy and planning while exercising appropriate employee relations judgment on matters of strategic and operational importance to the company.
  • Possession of strong management skills; experience leading and managing a HR department, and forecasting and managing a significant expense budget.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in HR Business or other related field of study or equivalent years of related work experience required. Professional Human Resources certification preferred.
