About the Role:

Are you an enthusiastic and driven leader in emergency services, ready for your next challenge? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as an Emergency Response Superintendent on a permanent, full-time basis.

This dynamic and fulfilling role operates Monday to Friday, allowing you to split your time between Huntly and Willowdale to ensure both sites thrive. You'll enjoy the natural surroundings during the day and return to the comfort of your home every evening, balancing work and family life.

Reporting to the WA Mining Health & Safety Manager, your team of Emergency Response Officers will be providing 24-7 coverage and are our first response on site: providing medical services to employees requiring treatment for illness or first aid for injuries and medical support to the fire and rescue team in the event of an emergency.

In addition to this, your team is also coordinating site access control and administration, monitoring blasting operations, lone worker tracking, alarms and security cameras. The key challenges in this role will be to continue developing team capabilities and streamlining processes across both sites to achieve business objectives and lasting improvements.

Your role is seen as a critical player in ensuring that Alcoa's value of a safer workplace, free of injury, can be achieved with a systematic planned approach to incident prevention, loss and damage control, and employee and contractor welfare.

Some of your key focus areas will include:

  • Developing & coordinating the emergency management plans across sites in line with the strategy, providing technical and professional advice and direction to departments on improvements strategies, methods & techniques.

  • Identifying WA Mining Emergency Response risks through a risk assessment process including definition of required resources, equipment, training, and auditing processes including developing and executing an annual emergency response drill schedule.

  • Utilising your leadership skills to provide coaching and guidance to your team, fostering an effective and engaged team environment.

What you can bring to the role:

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:

  • Cert III in Mine Emergency Response & Health Care. A diploma in Public Safety is desirable.

  • Extensive experience in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue

  • Proven ability in leading, controlling, directing, and motivating teams involved in the safe delivery of emergency services, ideally managing multiple teams of shift workers across various locations

  • Experience in Emergency and Critical Incident Management Planning

  • Knowledge of the Work Health and Safety Act and Regulations

About the Location

Huntly is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia. Established in 1976 and located east of North Dandalup in WA, it is the world's second largest bauxite mine, supplying ore to Alcoa's Pinjarra alumina refinery.
