About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Environment Manager to join our WA Mine Operations based at our Mine Hub in Pinjarra, with travel locally to our Huntly and Willowdale mines. This pivotal role provides senior leadership through collaboration to the WA Mining group on environmental management matters.

We are looking for a passionate environmental professional with a strong background in mining environmental management and compliance. You will have an understanding and ability to manage day to day mining operations while implementing a range of revised operational approvals whilst your strengths in coaching and mentoring site environmental teams, will ensure Alcoa is consistently at the forefront of operational performance in these areas.

In this role you will help maintain safe and sustainable mining activities by ensuring our compliance to our licenses and obligations to operate from key stakeholders, including State and Federal governments, regulators, local communities and non-government organizations (NGOs).

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Provide senior leadership on environmental management and compliance, to the WA Mining group and leadership teams.

  • Monitor and report on environmental performance and ensure compliance with environmental regulations, permits and sustainability standards.

  • Assist and support the implementation of government approvals for mine plans, improvement projects, and licenses.

  • Collaborate with various teams, including the Regional teams for Environment, Approvals and Long Term Planning.

  • Coach and develop a multi site team through effective training and development, as well as succession planning.

  • Upskill and coach teams on environmental requirements, policies and best practices.

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, clearly identifying priorities through to successful completion.

What you can bring to the role:

  • Degree qualified in a relevant field with experience of working in the Western Australian mining industry at a leadership level.

  • Expertise in environmental regulations, sustainability practices, and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001).

  • Ability to influence and collaborate at all levels of an organisation.

  • Experience in developing and managing process change and implementation programs.

  • Demonstrated success in providing environmental initiatives and achieving environmental outcomes as part of a team.

  • A hands-on, practical approach to environmental management and the ability to drive change.
