About the Role

Seeking to take on a leadership role that will shape the future of civil assets across Alcoa's global operations? We have a unique opportunity for a Global Principal Civil Engineer to lead the way in driving improvements across the business and make a lasting impact through strategic direction, governance, and innovation.

In this newly created role and reporting to our Global Asset Integrity Manager, you will provide expert guidance to Alcoa's regions and locations to address key challenges and implement civil asset management strategies. You'll play a crucial role in driving operational excellence and ensuring the long-term integrity of major capital projects and residue management programs. Your expertise will directly contribute to shaping sustainable and efficient outcomes, with key responsibilities including:

  • Strategic Development & Governance: Coordinating regional civil asset priorities and leading the enhancement of civil asset management frameworks, standards, and processes while ensuring effective governance and compliance across global operations.

  • Asset Integrity & Risk Oversight: Ensuring effective monitoring and governance of civil assets through the Asset Integrity Management System (AIMS), supporting defect remediation, residue asset management, and proactive risk assessments to maintain integrity and compliance.

  • Continuous Improvement & Best Practices: Driving innovation by integrating global best practices, overseeing condition metrics, managing budgets, supporting training programs, and sustaining governance systems for long-term asset integrity.

What you can bring to the role

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering coupled with a Chartership in Civil Engineering with Engineers Australia.

  • Strong background within the Mining and Resources industry with substantial civil engineering experience in specific areas that include residue and filtration, road, concrete, tunnels, foundations, bunds and slabs.

  • Proven expertise in civil management and asset integrity programs with experience in developing and deploying site level civil standards, strategies, frameworks and improvement roadmaps.

  • Proficient in civil and structural engineering calculations and analysis, and technical software (e.g. SPACEGASS) with relevant knowledge of industrial codes, standards, and statutory requirements.

  • Effective communication and presentation skills to lead strategic risk assessments and workshops that develop innovative solutions for civil asset challenges.

  • An ability to influence location leadership and engage regional teams to enhance asset integrity systems ensuring robust processes and scopes are implemented across locations.

About the Location

Alcoa Australia is currently located in Booragoon, WA, but will be relocating to the western end of St Georges Terrace in Perth CBD in Q3 2025. The Booragoon office is situated on Whadjuk Noongar land, 16 kilometres away from Perth's CBD. The office is situated next to Garden City and hosts employees from across several business units, including Commercial, Finance, Sustainability, Communications, Human Resources and the Global Refinery of the Future team.
