About the Role:

Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the environment? Alcoa's Huntly Bauxite Mine offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the restoration of our natural landscapes. As a Senior Mine Rehabilitation Advisor, you'll play a vital role in implementing and monitoring rehabilitation projects, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the mine site.

We're offering this opportunity as two part-time positions, with each person working three days a week. The roles are designed to work back-to-back, with a one-day crossover each week for collaboration. You'll be based onsite at our Myara Mine, located in the beautiful Darling Scarp.

This is a key role where you'll use your influence and extensive experience to guide our Operations Team. While you won't have any direct reports, you'll be a critical resource, providing high-level advice and guidance.

We'll depend on your expertise to make business-critical decisions that support our operational superintendents. To be successful, you'll need substantial prior experience in mine planning and/or environmental roles within the mining industry.  Experience in mine site rehabilitation will be considered favourably.

This is a fantastic opportunity to combine your technical expertise with a passion for environmental stewardship. You will join a dedicated team of professionals to ensure the long-term sustainability of the mine site by:

  • Leading field inspections and audits of rehabilitation works to drive continuous improvement.

  • Providing training and environmental advice to rehabilitation operational teams, and the wider business.

  • Contributing to the development of rehabilitation policies, procedures, and guidelines.

  • Collecting and collating data for GIS, reports, and KPI dashboards.

  • Assisting the research team to coordinate rehabilitation trials and monitoring.

  • Serving as a site liaison for government representatives, including the Department of Parks and Wildlife and the Water Corporation.

What you can bring to the role:

  • Degree in a relevant earth science, environmental science, or engineering field is highly desirable.

  • Extensive experience in mine planning or environmental roles within the mining industry.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.

  • Prior experience in bauxite mining is a significant advantage.

About the Location

Huntly is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia. Established in 1976 and located east of North Dandalup in WA, it is the world's second largest bauxite mine, supplying ore to Alcoa's Pinjarra alumina refinery.
