THE ROLE:
As a AI Software Metrics & Integration Engineer, you will sit at the intersection of software engineering, data, and AI-driven automation. Your primary focus is to connect our engineering tools and data, define the right metrics, and turn that information into dashboards and insights that improve how we build, test, and release software.
You will integrate data from source control, CI/CD pipelines, issue tracking, and test systems, and work with AI/automation initiatives to understand their real impact on quality and productivity.
THE PERSON:
You are a hands-on engineer who enjoys understanding how work actually flows through an organization and turning that into measurable, actionable data. You are comfortable writing Python and SQL, integrating with APIs, and building dashboards that make complex systems easy to understand. You are curious about how AI and automation can make engineering better and you communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design Engineering Metrics & Telemetry
- Analyze software development workflows (planning, coding, code review, CI, testing, release, defect management) and identify what should be measured.
- Define and implement engineering KPIs such as cycle time, rework, defect trends, test health, and automation/AI adoption.
- Design consistent telemetry events and data schemas across tools, pipelines, and services.
- Build Data Integrations & Models
- Integrate data from engineering systems including:
- Git-based code repositories
- CI/CD systems (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI)
- Issue/defect tracking and test systems
- Develop Python + SQL pipelines to extract, transform, and join data into analytics-ready models.
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and documentation for metrics and dashboards.
- Support AI / Automation Initiatives
- Collaborate with AI and platform teams to instrument AI agents and automated workflows with rich telemetry.
- Help define how to measure the impact of automation and AI (time saved, manual work reduced, quality improvements).
- Contribute to tools/APIs that expose engineering data and automation capabilities in a robust, secure way.
- Deliver Dashboards & Insights
- Build and maintain dashboards for leadership and engineering teams using modern BI tools.
- Translate data into clear insights and recommendations that inform process improvements and automation priorities.
- Run before/after analyses to evaluate the impact of changes to tools, workflows, and AI solutions.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Strong programming skills in Python for data processing, integrations, and automation (e.g., Dagster, Prefect)
- Strong SQL skills and experience with Snowflake or relational databases, (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL).
- Experience integrating with engineering tools and REST APIs (code hosting, CI/CD, issue tracking, test systems).
- Hands-on experience with at least one BI / dashboarding tool (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Grafana, Looker).
- Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and common engineering workflows.
- Familiarity with AI/ML or LLM-based solutions, such as using AI APIs to build tools or workflows; experience with agent/workflow frameworks is a plus.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and modern DevOps practices is an asset.
- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an emphasis on collaboration and clear storytelling with data.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
