Role Overview 

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven APJ PMO | Strategic Initiatives Lead to oversee the planning and execution of key initiatives aligned with AMD's business priorities across the Asia Pacific (APJ) region.

This role combines Project Management Office leadership with strategic planning, ensuring the successful delivery of high-impact programs that drive operational efficiency and business transformation. 

 

The ideal candidate brings deep program management and leadership experience in the semiconductor industry or with Tier 1 OEMs, preferably with a background in channel sales and sales operations.

They have a strong track record of driving complex initiatives across Asia Pacific and global markets, excel at leading cross-functional teams, and will oversee the development and enforcement of project standards, frameworks, and governance to ensure consistency and strategic alignment across all programs. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  1. Strategic Planning & Alignment  
  • Identify, prioritize, and oversee strategic initiatives that deliver value and align with AMD's overall strategic goals and objectives. 
  • Ensure all programs and projects align with company strategy and business priorities. 
  • Conduct market analysis to assess trends, competitive positioning, and growth opportunities. 
  • Develop and evolve business models and strategic frameworks to support innovation and transformation. 

 

  1. PMO Leadership 
  • Lead PMO operations across APJ, ensuring alignment with global strategic goals and consistent delivery of high-impact programs. 
  • Define and enforce PMO methodologies, project frameworks, and governance structures. 
  • Standardize project management processes across business units to drive operational consistency. 
  • Collaborate with regional and global project managers and cross-functional teams to ensure program success. 

 

  1. Program & Portfolio Management:  
  • Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of complex programs across the APJ region. 
  • Manage a portfolio of initiatives to maximize ROI, optimize resource allocation, and ensure measurable business outcomes. 
  • Leverage operational and industry expertise to guide cross-functional, high-impact projects. 

 

4. Performance Monitoring, Risk & Change Management 

  • Define and track KPIs, dashboards, and performance metrics to monitor project/program health. 
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks; drive timely issue resolution. 
  • Lead change management initiatives to support the adoption of new systems, processes, and organizational structures. 
  • Coordinate implementation plans including change controls, training, documentation, and stakeholder readiness. 

 

  1. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication 
  • Partner with AMD senior leadership, global teams, and APJ business units to ensure alignment of program goals with regional priorities. 
  • Facilitate ongoing communication, expectation management, and stakeholder engagement across finance, legal, operations, and commercial teams. 
  • Clearly communicate program anomalies, risks, and business impact in a concise and actionable manner. 

 

  1. Continuous Improvement & Reporting 
  • Deliver executive reporting on project status, outcomes, and risks. 
  • Conduct program reviews and post-mortems to identify lessons learned and improvement opportunities.  
  • Analyze project and process performance to identify and close execution gaps.  

 

  1. Resource & Financial Management 
  • Ensure optimal resource allocation across projects to achieve strategic objectives.  
  • Support financial planning, staffing, and budget compliance throughout project lifecycles.

Qualifications 

 Education & Experience 

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 10+ years of program management, operations, and channel sales experience, including senior leadership roles within semiconductor or OEM industries. ​ 

 

Industry & Technical Expertise 

  • Strong understanding of sales and operations processes, supply chain operations, and product lifecycle management.​ 
  • Experience in leading complex business programs involving suppliers, partners, and cross-functional teams from strategy through to execution. 
  • Familiarity with contract regulations, compliance requirements, and PMO best practices. 

Leadership & Strategic Impact 

  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage complex programs, and drive organizational change at an APJ level. 
  • Ability to influence business units or enterprise strategies aligned to program objectives. 
  • Collaborates across business units to synthesize commercial, financial, and market insights into actionable strategies. 

 Communication & Stakeholder Management 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of engaging and influencing senior executives and diverse stakeholders at all levels. 
  • Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external partners, regulators, auditors, and customers. 

 Regional & Market Knowledge 

  • Knowledge of APJ market dynamics and cultural nuances is highly desirable.
