THE ROLE:

We are looking for a Field Applications Engineer (FAE) focused on AMD datacenter technologies, including CPUs and GPUs. This is a field-focused position supporting global datacenter customers as they deploy and optimize AMD-based solutions.

The engineer will provide pre- and post-sales technical guidance across the full hardware and software stack, including system-level debug, performance optimization, and solution validation. The role will include working directly with customers on large-scale deployments, reproducing complex issues, and driving root cause analysis in collaboration with AMD engineering teams.

In key engagements, the FAE will act as a trusted technical advisor and an extension of the customer's engineering team. The role also involves developing proof-of-concepts, delivering demonstrations, and creating benchmarking frameworks to highlight AMD platform capabilities.

Additionally, the FAE will provide feedback to AMD product and engineering teams on real-world deployment challenges, helping improve future products, tools, and system architectures. The position will also involve creating and delivering technical training and executive-level presentations to customers.

THE PERSON:

Does this sound like you? We'd love to talk!

  • Excellent problem-solving, time-management, prioritization, and organizational skills, able to lead complex problems involving multi-disciplined, multi-functional teams
  • A standout colleague with strong collaboration skills, able to work independently or as part of a team
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills with a proven ability to build strong technical relationships (internal: Sales, Marketing, Engineering; external: OEMs and customers)
  • High attention to detail combined with strong planning and organizational capabilities
REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to complete the following with minimal guidance:

  • Lead customer-facing technical engagements, serving as a trusted advisor to key partners
  • Debug complex system-level issues across hardware and software stacks in datacenter environments
  • Reproduce customer issues and develop test harnesses to collect low-level debug data
  • Drive root cause analysis in collaboration with internal engineering teams
  • Develop and deliver proof-of-concepts, demonstrations, and benchmarking frameworks
  • Advise customers on system architecture, deployment strategies, and performance optimization
  • Coordinate cross-functional debug efforts and communicate status across internal teams
  • Develop tools, scripts, and experimental frameworks to accelerate debug and validation
  • Deliver technical and executive-level presentations translating technical insights into business value
DESIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
  • Strong experience with server and/or GPU architecture, including system integration, validation, and debug
  • Hands-on experience with platform software environments (Linux/Windows, BIOS, compilers, benchmarks)
  • Experience debugging low-level system issues across CPU, GPU, storage, and platform components
  • Background in hardware-software co-debug and performance analysis
  • Experience with datacenter environments, HPC, or AI/ML workloads
  • Familiarity with networking technologies (TCP/IP, RDMA, RoCE) and PCIe architecture
  • Knowledge of platform firmware (BIOS, BMC, SMU)
  • Experience with ROCm, CUDA, or similar compute frameworks
  • Ability to manage complex, multi-disciplinary technical challenges across distributed teams
PREFERRED SKILLS:
  • Experience in a customer-facing FAE, Solutions Engineer (SE), or Technical Account Manager (TAM) role
  • Familiarity with AMD EPYC and Instinct platforms
  • Experience with large-scale datacenter deployments
  • Strong understanding of server hardware ecosystems (node, rack, datacenter level)
  • Experience building benchmarking frameworks and TCO analyses
EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field. Advanced degree a plus.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
