Director, AI Developer Marketing – Community & Ecosystem

THE ROLE:

AMD is building the next generation of AI platform leadership and developers are at the center of that strategy. We are seeking a Director, AI Developer Community & Ecosystem Marketing to define and scale AMD's global AI developer community strategy, advocacy programs, and open-source ecosystem marketing initiatives. This leader will build a high-quality, high-engagement AI developer ecosystem that drives activation, advocacy, and long-term platform adoption contributing directly to AMD's AI developer and business goals.

This role reports to the Head of AI Developer Marketing and partners closely with: AI Product Marketing, Software Engineering (ROCm and AI framework teams), AI Business Unit leadership, Developer Relations, Regional marketing teams, ISV and ecosystem partners. The Director will lead and grow a team responsible for global AI community expansion, advocacy programs, open-source marketing engagement, and regional developer growth initiatives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

AI Developer Community Strategy

• Define and execute AMD's global AI developer community growth strategy
• Scale AMD's AI developer community platforms, including Discord, Discourse, and AMDevs Social Communities
• Establish scalable engagement models that increase active participation and developer retention
• Elevate AMD's presence within high-quality AI developer communities globally

Discord & Discourse Leadership

• Own the global strategy for AMD's developer community platforms
• Design engagement programming and governance frameworks that foster meaningful developer interaction
• Partner with Engineering and DevRel to ensure technical credibility and responsiveness
• Build community health models focused on quality, activation, and long-term engagement

Ambassador & Advocacy Programs

• Design and scale AMD's AI Ambassador and Advocacy programs
• Create structured pathways from contributor to advocate to ecosystem leader
• Develop recognition, amplification, and enablement strategies that empower AI developer voices
• Build a credible global network of AI advocates aligned to AMD platforms

Open Source & Ecosystem Marketing Engagement

• Develop strategic relationships with key AI open-source communities, leaders and maintainers
• Partner with AI BUs to amplify AMD contributions within AI ecosystems
• Lead open-source marketing initiatives that strengthen AMD's credibility and visibility
• Align ecosystem engagement efforts to platform adoption and workload activation objectives

Regional Community Expansion

• Operationalize community growth strategies aligned to priority geographies: United States, China, India, EMEA
• Balance quality, influence, and scale across regions

Ecosystem Co-Marketing & Influence

• Collaborate with AI startups, ISVs, research institutions, and ecosystem partners
• Drive co-marketing initiatives that strengthen AI workload adoption
• Ensure community growth aligns with broader AI platform strategy and lifecycle marketing efforts

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Extensive experience in senior developer marketing roles, community leadership, DevRel, ecosystem strategy, or open-source engagement
• Proven experience scaling global developer communities
• Experience leading Discord, Discourse, or similar technical community platforms
• Strong understanding of AI/ML ecosystems and open-source culture
• Demonstrated ability to partner closely with engineering and product teams
• Experience operating across global markets
