THE ROLE:

We are looking for an adaptive, self-motivated expert systems engineer to join our team. As a key contributor, you will have a strong technical background to contribute to all aspects of the EDA tool & license management process. 

In this role, you will have ownership of requirements delivery and drive operational requests to completion.

You are a highly motivated self-starter, who is passionate about solving problems and reaching goals. You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and collaborate well with others on your team, as well as with other business units.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Download and install EDA tools
• Archive EDA tool releases/versions
• Build and debug open-source software
• Configure and manage license services
• Respond to engineering customer issues
• Provide expert-level support for enterprise applications and ensure timely resolution
• Collaborate effectively with diverse partners and foster a team culture of knowledge sharing and excellence

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

• Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Linux Skills: Proficiency in Linux, including vi (visual editor), basic shell/Perl scripting, tar commands, and directory navigation
• Software Installation/Debugging: Experience with Linux 3rd party software application installation and debugging
• License Management: Basic experience with FLEXlm license management, including understanding of daemons, ports, and variables
• Open-Source Software: Basic understanding and experience with open-source software
• EDA Tool Administration: Knowledge or experience with EDA tool administration is preferred
• Customer Service: Strong customer service skills
• Problem Solving: Proven critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Team Communication: Self-motivated with strong team communication skills
• Scripting Languages: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Perl, Ruby, and Shell script
• Revision Control: Familiarity with revision control systems (GIT, SVN, CVS)
• Database Knowledge: Familiarity with databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MS SQL Server
• Hardware and Software Expertise: Good balance of hardware and software expertise
• Collaboration: Excellent collaborative skills
• Operating Systems: Familiarity with Linux/Unix OS and Windows OS

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field is strongly preferred

At AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package.  Your base pay will depend on where your skills, qualifications, experience, and location fit into the hiring range for the position.
