THE ROLE: 

AMD Finance New College Grad Program develops future finance leaders. This leadership development program for recent college graduates provides a breadth of accounting and finance experiences during your first 2 years of employment through 3 meaningful roles. This program has locations in Austin, Santa Clara & San Jose.

 

The experiences combine with an extensive training curriculum that aligns with each 8-month assignment. In your roles, you will have opportunities to:

  • Craft new and dynamic business models and come up with profitable strategies
  • Turn data into the information that will take on business problems
  • Assist in finding the balance between giving our shareholders the greatest value and meeting the technological and business needs of our customers
  • Learn and develop the business insight and technical skills necessary to excel as a future finance leader
  • Collaborate and interact with finance Leaders, cross-functional teams, and other AMD professionals  

 

THE PERSON: 

The ideal candidate should be a self-starter with a result driven approach, high sense of teamwork, positive outlook, and the ability to speak up and make recommendations in a fast-moving environment. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Identify and implement process improvements including automation, business process simplification, and productivity enhancements to improve the quality and accuracy of financial forecasting and reporting 
  • Engage with cross-functional teams (including finance, accounting, supply chain, and operations to drive the financial consolidation process for the Long Range Plan, Annual Operating Plan, and quarterly financial forecast including revenue, margin, operating expenses, and inventory 
  • Analyze trends within the business and ensures alignment with business and corporate-wide objectives 
  • Develop a strong understanding of the business unit and provide financial analysis to recommend best methods for achieving objectives 
  • Prepare accounting journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations for month-end close in addition to financial reporting for both external reporting and operational reviews 
  • Execute updates to deliverables in real-time within a fast-paced environment 
  • Efficiently deliver Ad Hoc analysis, reporting, and projects on request 
  • Follow all internal controls, regulatory policies, procedures, privacy, security standards in accordance with company, legal, and regulatory requirements  

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Finance professional experience in a multinational, high tech environment 
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively problem solve 
  • Strong communication skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with strong financial modeling skill is required. Proficiency in Microsoft Power Point is preferred 
  • Good understanding of Financial concepts and general understanding of US GAAP accounting principles 
  • Excellent understanding of/or skills with financial planning & reporting systems. SAP experience is preferable. Data mining and database management skills would be helpful 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

Bachelor's or Master's degree in related discipline preferred
