THE ROLE:
Collaborate with a cross-functional team to deliver the innovative, cost-effective and high quality reference platform proposals to semi-custom customers. You will be responsible for ensuring design quality and team success, contributing to continuous development and product improvement. Take ownership of internal AMD reference platform design as well as customers' hardware design related to AMD Soc, including general technical support and provide regular status to system core team. Working with multiple function teams inside and outside of AMD to accomplish complex projects with aggressive schedule.
THE PERSON:
A quick learner for new technologies. Excellent communication skill (both verbal and written), including Mandarin and English. Key performance skills include decision making, problem solving, teamwork.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for internal board development, BOM update and gerber release working with Board architect, Layout, Power, Signal integrity and Mechanical/Thermal/EMI Engineers
- Creating accurate and efficient hardware designs that meet target platform specifications and industry standards, meets post-silicon validation and production schedule
- Drive all the board related JIRA tasks and drive test execution progress. Drive all issues closure before phase exit
- Interface with ODM customer for design review and issue debug support
- Relationship management with customers and dealing with customer's escalations.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Leadership – Demonstrated leadership of complex cross-functional teams in an R&D and/or customer support environment. Ensures optimal use of assigned resources. Effectively influences laterally/up/down to achieve goal.
- Exec Communications – Extensive experience with executive presentations and proposals including the ability to summarize complex situations and recommendations succinctly.
- Problem Solving and decision making - Able to collect the necessary data/input and provide the team the work direction.
- Drive for results mindset – Able to use above capability to get customer's product launch on time.
- Proficient English and Mandarin (listening, writing and speaking).
- Deep understanding and knowledge of x86 and/or ARM-based hardware development flow and validation processes
- Strong knowledge for BIOS, hardware design, Driver, OS (one of them), basically knowledge of system debug
- Proficient in using Cadence's Concept and Allegro design tools
- Able to provide comprehensive design review results, including hardware block-level, circuit, and layout recommendations to customers
- Skilled in debugging hardware issues and supporting firmware/software issue triage encountered during post-silicon bring-up and validation
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- A technology related Bachelor's degree above plus minimum 5 years of x86/ARM based product working experience, including technical program manager or direct engineering experience.
