The Role: 

Join AMD's Multimedia IP team as a Senior Staff Firmware Engineer, where you will spearhead firmware development for the Image Signal Processor (ISP) and Video Processing Engine (VPE). As a pivotal technical member, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams including Architecture, Algorithm, Design, Verification, and FPGA to deliver cutting-edge ISP and VPE subsystem designs for System on Chip (SoC) solutions. This role offers the unique opportunity to engage with global teams, contributing to the full chip development lifecycle and gaining exposure to industry-leading development flows, methodologies, and technologies.

 

The Person: 

We are seeking a candidate with a minimum of 5 years of experience in firmware and software development within the multimedia, image processing, or related industries. A strong background in image science, particularly in image processing, is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise and collaborative skills, enabling them to thrive in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and understand various use cases for ISP and VPE.
  • Collaborate closely with the hardware design team to enable ISP and VPE hardware blocks.
  • Work with algorithm and software teams to define and implement API interfaces.
  • Conduct triage and resolution of firmware, hardware, and system-level issues on both FPGA and silicon platforms.
  • Facilitate the bring-up of ISP and VPE hardware and firmware features on silicon platforms.
  • Support the algorithm team in developing utilities and tools.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with at least 7 years of experience, or a Master degree with at least 5 years of experience in software and firmware development.
  • Strong proficiency in C/C++ programming with demonstrable skills.
  • Knowledge of multimedia and camera firmware/software development; familiarity with ISP algorithms is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, coupled with a strong teamwork attitude.
  • Experience in video/image processing is preferred.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English.

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor or Master, major in EE, CS or related area
