MTS SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER 

 

THE ROLE: 

We are looking for an experienced and talented developer to help us enable AI software on the world's most advanced computing devices. In this role you will help us enable our AI and HPC math libraries on the next generation of AMD's GPUs. You will work across a broad team of software and hardware engineers, helping us plan our silicon enablement programs, and executing on the plans that you contribute to.

 

THE PERSON: 

The ideal candidate will be an experienced software developer with excellent foundational software skills and who can work effectively on a large software project. You will have a background in computer architectures like GPUs and be comfortable with hardware concepts and low-level (assembly) programming. You will be able to work with hardware engineers to discuss and understand new hardware architectures. You will have excellent attention to detail, and be able to communicate and work across a large team with diverse skills and experience.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Developing software in C++, Python, HIP, and assembly to support the ROCm software stack.
  • Helping to drive new hardware bring ups through roadmap and validation planning.
  • Debugging and optimizing GPU kernels on future computing devices.
  • Mentoring junior engineers.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python.
  • Experience with HIP, CUDA, OpenCL, or other GPU programming framework.
  • Experience with computer architectures and low-level development in assembly.
  • Experience with modern software development processes, source control systems, and tools.
  • Experience with agile software development practices.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills 
  • Prior experience with new silicon bring-up is a plus but not required.
  • Experience with AI methods and frameworks is a plus but not required.

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
