THE ROLE

We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer to deploy and operate networking infrastructure for an upcoming on-prem datacenter buildout supporting AMD Instinct product development. In this role, you will partner closely with network and cluster design teams to plan and execute deployments for new datacenters, clusters, and network upgrades.

You will collaborate cross-functionally with IT, Information Security, and infrastructure automation teams to ensure delivery, reliability, and governance targets are met. This position also plays a critical role in leading the resolution of complex network issues encountered during new deployments and ongoing operations in a mission-critical datacenter environment.

THE PERSON

You are a hands-on network engineer with strong technical depth in enterprise and datacenter networking environments. You enjoy solving complex infrastructure challenges, communicating clearly with engineers and leadership, and operating in fast-paced, highly collaborative environments.

You are comfortable working independently while also enabling global operations teams. You bring a structured troubleshooting mindset, strong analytical skills, and the ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies as the infrastructure evolves.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deploy and operate front-side, back-end, and management networks across on-prem datacenter environments
  • Execute network deployment plans for new sites, clusters, and infrastructure upgrades
  • Perform site visits to oversee new network buildouts executed by operations teams
  • Architect and optimize network designs to reduce latency, packet loss, and jitter while increasing scale and performance
  • Deploy and support new software releases, system upgrades, and patches across the network infrastructure
  • Ensure network architecture meets high availability, resiliency, and performance requirements for mission-critical platforms
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex network issues, often coordinating with vendors and cross-functional support teams
  • Maintain familiarity with vendor technologies including AMD/Pensando, Cisco, Palo Alto, and Arista
  • Plan for future network capacity, redundancy, and technology growth
  • Develop and maintain detailed network documentation including diagrams, cabling schedules, inventories, and DCIM data
  • Monitor network health across global sites to proactively identify issues and improvement opportunities
  • Train and enable on-site L1 support teams
  • Participate in on-call incident response as L2 support on an occasional basis

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Experience maintaining enterprise and/or cloud network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and NICs
  • Experience supporting hosting technologies such as hyper-converged infrastructure, converged infrastructure, and Xen virtualization
  • Experience supporting infrastructure services including DNS, DHCP, BOOTP, PXE, TFTP, NTP, and PAM
  • Experience developing Python and/or Ansible scripts for infrastructure automation and metrics collection
  • Intermediate Linux administration skills
  • Experience using tools such as MAAS and Infoblox
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco and Arista networking products
  • Experience with Cisco Nexus platforms and Nexus Manager
  • Strong understanding of VXLAN/EVPN overlays, BGP routing, and leaf-spine architectures
  • Experience supporting traditional and modern datacenter architectures across multiple sites
  • Knowledge of RDMA networking and performance tuning
  • Experience with non-Ethernet technologies such as InfiniBand and ConnectX-5/6
  • Experience creating and maintaining network knowledge bases and operational runbooks
  • Strong understanding of application transport and network infrastructure protocols
  • Ability to create accurate and detailed network diagrams for design and planning
  • Ability to clearly explain complex network concepts to application engineers and leadership
  • Ability to create simplified network diagrams for presentations
  • Experience providing detailed hardware and software selection recommendations

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineer preferred
  • Arista ACE Level 3 certification a plus
  • Cisco CCNP certification preferred
