Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc. is hiring PMTS Software Development Engineer to Work with architecture specialists to validate AI solutions for distributed training and inference workloads with our ROCM software. Build cluster scale automation for distributed training and inference workloads. Publish reference designs and benchmark numbers for AI workloads. Apply a data-minded approach to target optimization efforts. Design and develop new groundbreaking AMD technologies. Participate in new ASIC and hardware bring ups. Develop technical relationships with peers and partners. Develop software and tools in support of design, infrastructure and technology platforms, including operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, cloud-based and internet-related tools. Define proprietary platforms, including hardware and software components. Drive software and systems solutions including development and product definitions. Work with cross-functional teams including engineers to develop systems-level software, working on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles. Drive projects or processes of significant technical importance. Exercise independent judgment to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results with little to no supervision. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including computer hardware and software, applications, and programming, as well as knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various company systems and products.

Qualifications: Degree required
Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
Qualifications: Amount and type of experience required: Five (5) years of experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.
Alternate combination of education and experience: Employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and seven (7) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or closely related engineering role.
Specific skills required: The following skills are required:
Position requires five (5) years of experience in the following:
- Software engineering;
- Building and deploying complex distributed systems in cloud environment;
- Instrumenting and identifying performance bottlenecks;
- Improving performance of low level system software, including firmware, device drivers, and kernel modules;
- Software verification;
- Object-Oriented Design;
- Embedded driver development;
- GNU toolchain;
- Computer storage technologies; and
- Computer networking technologies.
