THE ROLE:
Lead and support team efforts to qualify and produce next-generation AMD microprocessors as a Product Development Engineer. The role may include projects related to Data Analysis, Product Definition, and System Level Test (SLT), anywhere within the New Product Development (NPI) / Production life cycle. Product engineers cover a range of topics to ensure overall compatibility, compliance, and test coverage of microprocessors, from initial silicon bring-up through high-volume manufacturing. This particular role focuses on Data Analysis, Yield Improvement, and ATE Test Point Optimization/Validation needs across our team.
THE PERSON:
A successful candidate is one who can drive technical decisions independently, has accountability for accuracy, reliability and completeness of assignment results critical to the project's success. This role allows the opportunity to influence technical decisions that have a significant impact on multiple products or the product line.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Integrating and releasing continuous improvements to quality, efficiency, or test.
- Supporting all aspects of new product bring-up, including characterization of product and test point margin analysis as appropriate.
- Debugging issues, weak points, or potential improvements related to test, yield, and power/performance requirements.
- Leading and supporting multi-disciplinary teams involving Design, Diagnostics, Foundry Technology, Supply Chain, and/or other engineering teams to resolve issues related to the product.
- Continuously improving methods and tools the team requires to generate results.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
- Prior coursework or direct experience related to Computer Science, Software Engineering, Digital Logic, Circuit Theory, and/or Computer Architecture.
- Programming or scripting: Python, C, Java, Ruby, SQL, or shell scripting preferred
- Clear understanding of statistical analysis and Pareto-based analysis
- Familiarity with building a computer with required components (MB/cards/etc.)
- Proficiency in MS Office / Windows OS or similar
- Willingness to work hands-on driving AMD technology
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with geographically-dispersed teams overseas
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Familiarity with statistical analysis & data acquisition tools such as JMP, Snowflake
- Familiarity with ATE Test area equipment and methodology
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Targeted candidates will have a B.S. in Engineering/Physics (BS and/or advanced degree in EE/EECS/Computer Engineering preferred)
