We push the limits of innovation to solve the world's most important challenges—striving for execution excellence, while being direct, humble, collaborative, and inclusive of diverse perspectives. Join us as we shape the future of AI and beyond.  Together, we advance your career.

THE ROLE:

As the Senior ML Data Engineer you will define, design, and drive the development of our next-generation machine learning data infrastructure. This is a highly influential role within the engineering organization, serving as a catalyst for scalable data pipeline design, cross-functional alignment, and ML platform excellence. As a key contributor, you will shape and advance AMD's ML data capabilities, enabling the delivery of high-quality, industry-leading AI technologies to market

THE PERSON:

You are a seasoned ML Data Engineer with deep expertise in designing and scaling data pipelines and machine learning infrastructure. You combine strong data engineering fundamentals with a solid understanding of ML workflows, thrive in cross-functional environments, and bring the technical depth to architect robust data platforms that accelerate model development and deployment at scale

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define, document, and govern end-to-end ML data architectures, including feature stores, training data pipelines, data lakes, and supporting infrastructure, ensuring alignment with ML roadmaps and business objectives.
  • Translate ML research, product, and analytics requirements into actionable data architecture designs, including data models, pipeline specifications, feature contracts, and technical design documents.
  • Evaluate, select, and recommend modern ML data technologies and frameworks (data orchestration, feature engineering tools, storage engines, compute frameworks) to optimize scalability, performance, and cost efficiency.
  • Drive the design and evolution of core ML data platform components, with strong emphasis on data quality, reproducibility, lineage tracking, and operational reliability.
  • Act as the technical escalation point for complex ML data issues, providing guidance across ingestion, transformation, feature generation, versioning, and serving layers.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with ML engineers, data scientists, platforms, and product teams to drive technical alignment and ensure consistent data standards across model development and deployment workflows

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, ML data infrastructure, or large-scale data platform development, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead engineering role.
  • Strong expertise in building data pipelines and infrastructure supporting AI/ML workloads, including feature engineering, batch and streaming processing, and training data management.
  • Hands-on experience with modern ML and data platforms, including cloud-native lake house architectures and ML tooling for experimentation, training, deployment, and monitoring.
  • Solid understanding of MLOps and ML lifecycle management, including data versioning, experiment tracking, model governance, and production monitoring.
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL, with demonstrated ability to build performant, scalable, and reliable data pipelines for ML use cases.
  • Experience working with structured and unstructured datasets for advanced analytics, machine learning, and generative AI applications.
  • Familiarity with data governance, security, and compliance principles as applied to AI systems, including data quality, lineage, access control, and privacy.
  • Working knowledge of cloud and on-premises infrastructure and distributed systems, including storage, compute, and cost-optimization strategies for ML-driven data platforms.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with data scientists, ML engineers, and platform teams, translating AI/ML requirements into scalable, production-ready data solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to present technical concepts clearly to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • PhD or MSc degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science
#On-site / hybrid role in Poland, Gdansk
