THE ROLE: 

AMD is looking for a talented and motivated Software Engineer to join our automation infrastructure team. This is a pure software / infrastructure role: you will design, build, and maintain the automation platform that runs large-scale test execution across Linux and Windows environments and hardware emulation platforms. The tests themselves – validation, design, and other workloads – are owned by their respective teams; your focus is the framework, execution engine, CI pipelines, scheduling, and reporting that reliably run those tests at scale and surface results. You will not be doing hardware design or writing the tests; instead you will build the robust, scalable systems that the validation, design, and tools teams depend on every day to qualify next-generation products across AMD's server, data center, client, and embedded markets. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys building infrastructure, improving developer productivity, and operating systems at scale.

You think like a systems engineer, taking pride in the reliability and turnaround time of the platforms you build. You are a team player with excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with engineers across different sites and timezones. You have strong analytical and debugging skills, are pragmatic about tradeoffs, and are always ready to learn new tools and take on new problems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Design, build, and maintain continuous integration and regression environments that run large-scale test suites – owned by validation, design, and other teams – across Linux and Windows platforms.
• Design and maintain a scalable execution engine to efficiently utilize machine and storage resources.
• Design and maintain databases to manage assets, releases, and results.
• Integrate and support hardware emulation platforms as an execution target within the automation flow.
• Improve our validation automation eco-system and infrastructure.
• Influence and align other tools teams to converge on common CI / regression methodologies.
• Collaborate with other tools teams, Architects, and the Design & Verification team to ensure quality releases and clear presentation of complex results.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:  

• Solid software engineering experience building automation, tooling, or infrastructure, with strong proficiency in Python and shell scripting.
• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining software across both Linux and Windows environments.
• Experience designing or operating regression / CI systems (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent) and job schedulers such as LSF or Slurm.
• Experience designing databases and services to manage large volumes of assets, releases, and results, and building reporting / dashboards over them.
• Experience with QEMU or similar software emulation/virtualization platforms for running and scaling test workloads
• Comfort operating compute and storage resources at scale, optimizing throughput, reliability, and turnaround time.
• Working knowledge of version control (Git), build systems, and general DevOps / release-engineering practices.
• Familiarity with running workloads on hardware emulation platforms (e.g., Synopsys ZeBu, Cadence Palladium, or Siemens Veloce) as an execution target is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and debug skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a distributed, global team.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:  

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronic / Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
