SILICON DESIGN ENGINEER 2

THE ROLE:

Join AMD's Emulation and Prototyping team and contribute to the development of next-generation SoCs powering the world's leading computing platforms.

In this role, you will help develop the infrastructure, validation environments, and workflows that enable early hardware and software bring-up before silicon is available. Working alongside experienced engineers across architecture, design, firmware, software, and verification teams, you will gain hands-on experience with industry-leading emulation technologies, hardware/software co-validation, and system-level debug.

This position offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise in advanced pre-silicon validation and emulation methodologies while making meaningful contributions to AMD's next-generation product development programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and maintain scalable emulation testbenches, validation infrastructure, and reusable automation frameworks.
• Support bring-up, debug, and validation activities on emulation and prototyping platforms.
• Collaborate with architecture, design, firmware, software, and verification teams to plan and execute pre-silicon validation.
• Create automation and test content using Python and other scripting languages.
• Develop and debug embedded firmware, boot code, and validation applications used for feature enablement and hardware/software co-validation.
• Analyze functional failures, drive root-cause debug, and contribute to new emulation and prototyping methodologies.
• Validate next-generation features, protocols, and interfaces while leveraging AI-powered tools to enhance engineering productivity.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience with C/C++, Python, TCL, and/or SystemVerilog.
• Understanding of digital logic design, computer architecture fundamentals, and Linux-based development environments.
• Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Exposure to ASIC design, design verification, FPGA development, emulation, or related hardware development projects through coursework, research, or internships.
• Familiarity with industry-standard interfaces and protocols such as PCIe, CXL, DDR, AXI, or other AMBA protocols.
• Experience with firmware or embedded software development is a plus.
