AMD's Data Center Platform Engineering Group (DPEG) is designing, building and delivering innovative technology infrastructure enabling the digital world.  We create cloud-enabling server solutions that help the world's leading companies turn their ideas into reality. AMD is looking for a Software Development Engineer / Project Manager to join our growing team. As a key contributor you will be part of a leading team to drive and enhance AMD's abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry-leading technologies to market.  

 

THE PERSON: 

 

The ideal candidate possesses an innovative and problem-solving mindset, has a keen eye for software engineering development, and is diligent and passionate about technology. A successful candidate will need to employ strong knowledge in computer technologies, leadership skills in technical areas, and software engineering expertise as well as a strong ability to compete effectively in a fast-paced, relevant environment while working with different teams of engineers and collaborators.  We are looking for a software engineer that would also be responsible for project management duties, including working with the AMD project management community and customers on planning activities and resolving issues related to manufacturing our products.  The ideal candidate will make code changes to our manufacturing tools and scripts to resolve issues in the world-wide factories that produce our products.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

 

  • Develop and drive execution of comprehensive, highly effective software for sophisticated new technology and new product introduction projects 
  • Validate new SW features before releasing them to customers 
  • Contribute to a high-functioning feature team 
  • Collaborate closely with multiple teams to deliver key planning solutions and the technology to support them 
  • Help contribute to the design and implementation of future architecture for a highly scalable, durable, and innovative system
  • Work very closely with dev teams and Project Managers to drive results  

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

 

  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Linux, Windows, System board interfaces (i.e. I2C, PCIE, IPMI, and Redfish hardware interfaces), and networked communication protocols (i.e. TCP/IP, UDP)
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Python, Shell / Bash script
  • Leverage agentic AI‑driven code generation and orchestration to accelerate software development, improve code quality, and automate complex engineering workflows 
  • Strong understanding of software design principles, patterns, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes and technologies is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Up to 25% travel

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

 

Bachelor's degree (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field

 

Location: Secaucus, NJ or Austin, TX
