THE ROLE:

AMD is looking for a specialized software engineer who is passionate about implementing cutting‑edge device drivers and firmware. You will be a member of a core team of incredibly talented industry specialists and will work with the very latest hardware and software technology.

 

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate is passionate about software engineering and possesses leadership skills to drive new development and issue resolution in a cross‑functional team. They should be able to communicate effectively and work efficiently with different teams across AMD.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with AMD's software and firmware development team to develop new features and improve products.

  • Become a subject matter expert in low‑level driver and firmware development.

  • Stay informed about software and hardware trends and innovations, particularly in algorithms and architecture.

  • Participate in new ASIC, operating system, and technology bring‑ups.

  • Debug and fix existing issues while researching more efficient approaches to accomplish the same work.

  • Develop strong technical relationships with peers and partners.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong knowledge of virtualization technology and architecture across multiple platforms.

  • Relevant experience and knowledge of GPU virtualization and operating system architecture are highly recommended.

  • Ability to set up operating systems and development environments without supervision.

  • Extensive experience coding and debugging with AI code‑assist tools.

  • Strong programming background, with C and C++ required.

  • Ability to write high‑quality code with strong attention to detail.

  • Experience with modern concurrent programming and threading APIs.

  • Experience in Windows, Linux, and VMware operating system development.

  • Familiarity with software development processes and tools such as debuggers, source‑code control systems (including GitHub), and profilers.

  • Effective communication and problem‑solving skills.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or an equivalent field.
