Main responsibilities 

 

AMD Silo AI is pushing the frontier of AI, working with leading AI development groups in life sciences. We are now seeking a passionate lead for our life sciences efforts. This role lets you shape how AI drives life sciences forward. 

  • Deliver easy-to-use, performant, and innovative packaged workloads and technical playbooks that help life sciences AI developers succeed on AMD AI compute. 
  • Lead and develop the life sciences team.
  • Actively seek information across customers, internal stakeholders, and the broader market on the progress of the field and for input for prioritization of roadmaps. 
  • Work with business development in building long-term co-development relationships with customers 
  • Align and develop our position among AMD's life sciences efforts.

Collaboration with others 

  • The role is part of AMD Silo AI's R&D and Models unit, reporting to Senior Director. 
  • You will work closely with other engineering teams at AMD, life sciences business development, our program management, and academic and corporate research groups. 

Main goals for first 6 months 

  • Build strong alignment with other AMD teams, define technical and team vision for the mid-term, take on proactive leadership in ongoing customer engagements.

Ideal candidate profile - Required Skills and Qualifications 

  • Master's degree or equivalent professional experience in some computationally focused subdomain of life sciences. 
  • Hands-on experience in developing LLMs, scientific AI (e.g. molecular models or imaging), or high performance computing in e.g. computational chemistry or protein binding. 
  • Experience in managing distributed technical teams.
  • Ability and passion to relentlessly learn new science and technologies.
