THE ROLE: 

AMD's server software and solutions engineering team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to work on software and application optimization with major public cloud service providers. This role requires deep expertise in x86 architecture, distributed systems, software profiling, and cloud performance tuning.

 

THE PERSON:

A highly motivated and passionate professional with deep expertise in cloud software performance optimization and a proven track record of working with large-scale distributed applications. The ideal candidate thrives in collaboration and technical problem-solving, working closely with cloud providers and technical experts to demonstrate the performance and price-performance advantages of AMD EPYC-based solutions. This individual will play a crucial role in enhancing cloud workload efficiency, refining software architectures, and driving innovative solutions that push the boundaries of cloud computing.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The engineer will focus on optimizing workload performance, refactoring large-scale applications, and enhancing cloud software efficiency.
  • This includes working with partner ISVs to fine-tune system configurations, analyze performance profiles, and mitigate bottlenecks using industry-standard tools.
  • The role spans all phases of software performance optimization and benchmarking, ensuring that AMD EPYC-powered solutions deliver superior results in cloud deployments.
  • Strong experience in high-level programming languages and frameworks (e.g., C/C++, C#, Java, Python) is required.

 

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Extensive expertise in x86 computing architecture and a strong background in software development and performance optimization are essential.
  • The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of cloud infrastructure, virtualization, and containerized environments and experience working with server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux), hypervisors, and benchmarking tools.
  • A strong understanding of cloud service provider instances, deployment models, and software configurations is necessary to develop effective migration strategies and competitive performance advantages.
  • Experience in software engineering collaboration tools, including git-based repository management, CI/CD workflows, and infrastructure automation, is highly desirable.

 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS 

BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science or a related equivalent field. 7+ years of applicable experience.
