Job Role and Responsibility: AMD Design LLC, a subsidiary of AMD, Inc., is hiring a Staff Thermal Simulation Engineer to Work independently and collaboratively with cross functional teams throughout all manufacturing cycles such as Engineering/Design/Production validation phases doing server and rack level thermal validation testing. [30%] Create test plan and test script to streamline test process. [15%] Develop fan control algorithm for optimal thermal performance while meeting customer's spec. [15%] Develop new and existing tests methodology to improve on data collection, sorting and reporting. [5%] Troubleshoot thermal or airflow issues in new and existing product lines using empirical data and commercial CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) software. [20%] Optimize airflow speed, volume and flow paths to meet customer and components requirements. [5%] Produce thermal reports from CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics), experimental data and testing/modeling experience. [5%] Support procurement team to identify and manage 3rd party vendors. [5%]

- Advanced engineering analysis ability (stress, fatigue, vibration).
In lieu of a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or related role, the employer will accept a master's degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or related role.
Requires 3 years of experience with the following skills:
- Heat transfer and fluid mechanics.
- Electrical circuit design ability, including PCB (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) design and soldering.
- Programming skills with VHDL, C, or C++.
- Performing advanced CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics)
