THE ROLE:
We are looking for a dynamic, energetic Lead / Senior Systems Design Engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor to the success of AMD's product, you will be part of a leading team to drive and improve AMD's abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry leading technologies to market. The Systems Design Engineering team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development.
THE PERSON:
The person needs to be well self-motivated for deliveries and innovation, strong technical background on x86 system Architecture (CPU, PCIe, Memory, USB, SSD, ACPI, etc.) and PCB layout, also with good communication skills.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and review notebook system (power delivery, sequencing, high‑speed interfaces).
- Review PCB stack up, routing constraints, impedance rules, and HDI/uVIA usage.
- Lead system bring-up and system problem triaging, including overall system, memory, and power-related issues.
- Work closely with ODM, guiding schematic/layout reviews, resolving design issues, and ensuring design quality
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- CPU power design and sequencing
- DDR memory routing, length matching, timing, and SI basics
- High‑speed interfaces (PCIe, USB‑C/USB4, DP)
- PCB design fundamentals and stack‑up planning
- Hands‑on debugging skills with oscilloscope, meters, analyzers.
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Direct experience working with ODMs for notebook program development.
- Experience with Intel or AMD mobile CPU platforms.
- Familiarity with DDR SI/PI simulation or memory training.
- Ability to manage technical discussions across cross‑functional teams.
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
- 5+ years Experience in notebook or PC hardware development, preferably in ODMs or OEM-ODM joint development.
