THE ROLE:  

We are looking for a dynamic, energetic Lead / Principal Systems Design Engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor to the success of AMD's product, you will be part of a leading team to drive and improve AMD's abilities to deliver the highest quality, industry-leading technologies to market. The Systems Design Engineering team fosters and encourages continuous technical innovation to showcase successes as well as facilitate continuous career development.  

THE PERSON:  

As a Leader in Systems Design Engineering, you will drive the best laptop system solutions. In this high visibility position, your hardware systems engineering expertise will be necessary towards product development, definition, and root cause resolution.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

• Own laptop system design architecture and technical direction across internal and external
• Lead deep technical engagement with partners to co-develop systems aligned with AMD platform requirements.
• Act as the primary technical interface between internal and parters
• Drive cross-team technical discussions, issue triage, and debug closure for innovation programs.
• Provide architecture guidance for key laptop components, including panel, memory, storage, and interface subsystems.
• Cross-domain requirement definition and system-level trade-off decisions for performance, thermals, cost, and schedule.
• Identify technical risks early and drive mitigation plans 
• Build reusable architecture guidelines and best practices to support sustainable scaling of laptop programs.
• Drive the best system release and deliver

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:  

• Relevant R&D leader experience in tier 1 notebook builder company.
• 10+ years of experience in notebook/laptop system design or platform architecture.
• Strong hands-on experience in notebook platform architecture, board-level integration, and cross-functional system bring-up.
• Proven experience engaging directly with partners to drive technical alignment and execution.
• Solid understanding of system-level design trade-offs across silicon, firmware, BIOS, thermal, and mechanical constraints.
• Experience in root cause debug and issue closure for complex platform problems.
• Strong English communication skills and ability to lead global cross-functional technical meeting discussions.
• Experience with AMD mobile platforms and ecosystem requirements is a plus
• Knowledge of key laptop component technologies, including panel, memory, and storage subsystem behavior.
• Track record of leading architecture decisions in high-volume product programs.
• Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical project teams.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:  

• Bachelors or Masters(preferred) degree in electrical or computer engineering
