THE ROLE:

We are seeking a System/Validation Engineering Manager within the Product Development Group to support Datacenter Accelerated Computing products. In this role, you will lead a team responsible for test hardware, software, and diagnostics design to ensure manufacturing quality, cost efficiency, and validation for AMD's datacenter GPUs. You will collaborate across functions to deliver industry-leading solutions for AI, ML, and HPC applications, focusing on test automation, program management, and manufacturing robustness. Your team will develop and maintain test solutions for lab, manufacturing, and customer platforms to validate product design, fabrication processes, packaging technologies, and compliance with specifications.

THE PERSON:

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong analytical thinking, exceptional attention to detail, and effective problem-solving skills. They excel in collaboration, building productive relationships with cross-functional teams, while also working independently with minimal supervision. Adaptability, clear communication, and a proactive approach to challenges are essential, along with the ability to lead discussions and influence outcomes in dynamic environments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Define and implement test strategies for new product features, including test fixtures, equipment, and diagnostic software.
  • Develop and maintain automated test solutions and Python-based validation suites for lab, manufacturing, and customer platforms.
  • Debug complex hardware and software issues during build phases and drive yield and quality improvements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review DFT in early design stages and optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Introduce new test technologies and methodologies to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
  • Analyze data to support decision-making and lead discussions on test program updates and optimizations.
  • Mentor junior engineers and influence technical direction as a leader.
  • Ensure validation of AI, ML, and HPC workloads for AMD datacenter GPUs.
  • Work with global stakeholders to develop documentation, process improvements, and provide support for manufacturing programs.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven background in system test and validation, including developing tests, patterns/vectors, timing, and diagnostics on Automated Test Equipment.
  • Experience managing projects and leading engineering teams.
  • Skilled in XP, AGILE, Scrum, or Kanban methodologies, serving as Scrum Master or Product Owner.
  • Strong statistical analysis capabilities for identifying population means, outliers, and driving debug processes using Pareto analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across geographically distributed teams and present to senior leadership.

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:

Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical, computer, manufacturing engineering, or related technical field.
