Description
Scope of Responsibility
- Responsible for forecasting, procurement requirements, service levels, and inventory management of assigned resale product. Provide value added to inventory performance and customer service.
- Active involvement in the Company's Total Quality Management process as evidenced by continuous improvement of processes directed toward reducing costs, improving cycle time, increasing sales/gross profit and customer satisfaction.
- Carries out policies and procedures as defined in the quality manual.
- Continuous development through reading, schools, seminars and on-the-job training.
Job Duties
- Forecast and purchase assigned products for resale at the most effective cost level and ensure the product is shipped and received with the least cycle time.
- Responsible for assigned product inventories in accordance with policy to maximize investment while retaining branch and customer commitments. Maintain consignment programs when applicable.
- Review and maintain open supplier orders, inter branch orders, and center backorders from branches. Perform expediting when required.
- Process and review orders and review invoices for accuracy to ensure supplier adherence to purchase agreement, terms and pricing.
- Prepare and analyze reports and determine requirements for continuous improvement of inventory turns and customer service levels. Take immediate corrective action when required.
- Negotiate special terms and conditions with suppliers where appropriate.
- Negotiate with suppliers to resolve problems and improve purchasing, inventory and logistical processes that optimize supply chain management.
- Process special buys to achieve corporate objectives.
- Respond to field requests for order placement, competitive pricing, anticipated delivery dates, special orders and expediting assistance.
- Process supplier orders utilizing the overstock screening, centralized corporate order processing, and EDI systems when applicable.
- Work with field locations to resolve problems, answer and handle complaints in accordance with organization policy.
- Review supplier acknowledgements and record for future follow-up.
- Coordinate with product managers, marketing, field locations and customers for inventory requirements of new and/or special products per program guidelines.
- Coordinate supplier returns with Inventory Asset Management, Product Managers, Suppliers and Distribution Centers to process supplier returns.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain or Business preferred; High School Diploma or equivalent is Required
- 6+ months purchasing experience in a procurement or purchasing role preferred
- Experience in distribution or manufacturing environment
- Ability to use Microsoft Excel (intermediate level), Outlook and Word
- Demonstrated teamwork, productivity, accuracy, and professionalism
- Ability and desire to quickly learn new processes and systems
