- The Infection Control RN is a key member of the Infection Control Team in preventing healthcare-associated infections by limiting the spread of transmission and unprotected exposure to pathogens. This position is vital for ensuring a safe environment for patients, employees, and visitors.
- The successful candidate will systematically collect, analyze, and interpret health data to disseminate appropriate health practices.
- Conduct educational and training activities for healthcare workers under guidance from the Director of Infection Control.
- Maintain a monthly schedule of surveillance rounds and follow-up on activities to correct deficiencies.
- Work with department managers to apply policies and procedures that ensure compliance with TJC, OSHA, CDC, CMS, and other regulatory/accrediting agencies.
- Coordinate activities for staff for Infection Control Week, World Hand Hygiene Day, and other promotional events.
- Conduct hand hygiene audits and generate monthly hand hygiene audit reports.
- Liaise with the Employee Health Nurse on staff health issues or exposures and educate new hires on available Hepatitis B and influenza vaccination.
- Interact with and report communicable diseases to local and state health departments.
- Develop reports and statistical data, calculate infection rates using NHSN recommended denominator data.
- Assist with ICRAs for construction/renovation projects; assist director with performing hospital-wide annual risk assessment, annual infection control plan development, and setting goals and objectives.
- Identify, investigate, report health-care associated infections among patients and personnel through ongoing surveillance.
- Maintain logs with infection surveillance data.
- Act as a resource in educating staff, patients, and family on the transmission of microorganisms, hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette, and personal protective equipment.
- Ensure adherence to patient isolation precautions on a daily basis.
- Work with the Director of Infection Control in reviewing positive lab results, central lines, and Foley catheters on a daily basis.

- Additional Details
- I9 and Everify required for direct candidates; Attestation required for Sub candidates.
- Drivers License or State ID required for all travelers.
- ACLS, BLS, PALS, and other certifications required as applicable.
