The Department of Economic Security (DES), Division of Technoloy Services (DTS) is hiring a Google Senior Administrator (Senior Systems Administrator) to manage and support its enterprise-level Google Workspace environment. This role involves daily system administration, user and group management, troubleshooting, ticket prioritization, policy configuration, and automation. The administrator will also participate in strategic planning, audit remediation, documentation, and cross-team collaboration. Candidates should have strong experience with Google Workspace, technical problem-solving skills, and a solid understanding of governance and best practices.

This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements).

Job Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Serve as the technical expert for Google Workspace and Google Cloud Platform (GCP) solutions.
• Maintain, monitor, and update Google Workspace, GCP, and related configurations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues independently and collaboratively.
• Support and maintain integrations with Google services and third-party tools.
• Participate in Google-related projects as a subject matter expert (SME).
• Provide recommendations for Google hardware and software that meet enterprise needs.
• Ensure Google solutions comply with security and regulatory requirements.
• Review configuration changes for policy and standards compliance.
• Create and update standard work, documentation, and technical procedures.
• Implement and monitor security measures to protect system integrity and availability.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
• Various enterprise technologies, including commercial off-the-shelf and custom-developed applications
• Evaluating, recommending, and supporting procurement of enterprise software solutions
• Department-level budgeting and resource planning for enterprise systems and projects
• Identifying technical resource needs and training requirements to support system administration and growth

Skills In:
• Identifying and implementing innovative solutions to improve efficiency and reduce waste
• Leading initiatives and developing processes to meet evolving business and technical needs
• Providing excellent customer service with strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
• Applying advanced troubleshooting, problem-solving, and conflict resolution techniques
• Prioritizing tasks, setting goals, and managing time effectively in a dynamic environment
• Maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and emotional control while actively listening and engaging with others

Ability to:
• Balance, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines and commitments
• Work independently with minimal guidance and collaborate effectively across teams and organizations
• Build strong working relationships and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
• Develop technical documentation and participate in task reviews, incorporating feedback to refine solutions
• Evaluate, install, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise and Google hardware/software systems
• Adapt to new ideas and technologies, leveraging metrics to support continuous improvement

Selective Preference(s):

This ideal candidate for this position will have:

• Bachelor's degree or 5 or more years of experience in systems administration
• 1 to 3 years of Google Workspace Administration experience
• Large scale Enterprise Support experience

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• This position may require driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, then the following requirements apply: Driver's License Requirements.  

• Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency's ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.

• Employee shall obtain and maintain a valid Level One fingerprint clearance card that meets DES requirements for a Level One card pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-1969.

• All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify.)

Retirement:

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
