Overview

Work Location: Fort Valley State University

What you will do:

  • Under the supervision of the directing physician, manages care of athletes and the active population in the school setting
  • Uses preventative measures appropriately, provides standard immediate care procedures used in emergencies, clinical evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning
  • Employs appropriate assessment outcomes measures to determine effectiveness of the athletics outreach program
  • Determines appropriate return to sport for the active student
  • Management of head injuries/concussions and referrals to appropriate medical professionals to ensure optimal level of care

What you will need:

Education, Training, and Experience

  • Bachelor's or Masters degree in athletic training from a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) program
  • 3-5 years experience as a BOC Certified Athletic Trainer (preferred) and must be able to work independently
  • Knowledge of OSHA Recordability and workers compensation a plus

Other Job Requirements, Licenses, Certifications

  • Certified Athletic Trainer by NATA Board of Certification
  • Currently licensed or eligible for a State of Georgia License in Athletic Training
  • Ability to complete American Heart Association Healthcare Provider (BLS), which includes CPR and AED training within 30 day of hire
  • Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) certification (preferred)
