Job Description
We want your talent to support activities for complex avionics electronics systems in our growing avionics business areas. Controls and Avionics Solutions provides flight and mission- critical products to more than 170 commercial and military customers around the world.
CAS products include fly-by-wire flight controls, pilot controls (inceptor systems), full authority digital engine controls (FADEC), power management systems, flight deck systems, cabin management systems, weapon controls, autonomous flight systems, and mission systems for the world's most prominent commercial and military aircraft manufacturers. Our growing business is located in the Greater Binghamton area which is home to several sports teams, shopping centers, a growing downtown, the State University of New York at Binghamton, several large healthcare employers and some of New York's top- ranked school districts. The area enjoys a rich heritage with multiple diverse communities with local cuisine and festival celebrations. From the area to an hour out there is access to hiking, skiing, lakes, waterparks, casinos, golfing, camping and vineyards. Job responsibilities for the position include:

  • Lead team of up to 10 engineers to develop a complex design
  • Summarize analytical results, present as appropriate.
  • Interface with internal operations, other engineering disciplines, and suppliers
  • Resolve complex design challenges and establish a finalized design approach


Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline with 10+ years related experience.
  • Must have keen interest in solving highly complex design challenges with battery cell packaging.
    • Experience in resolving Thermal Runaway, Cell Venting, Charging/Discharging Thermal Impacst, ect.
  • Knowledge of vendor capabilities that have innovative techniques within the field of resolving battery cell technical challenges.
  • Understanding of Thermal/Structural analysis and design impacts.
  • Understanding of lightweight materials (i.e composites) and manufacturing processes.
  • Requires excellent communication skills. Support schedule, budget, and technical discussions with manufacturers, customers, engineers, and all levels of management.
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks and priorities, and thrive in a fast paced, schedule driven environment.
  • Aptitude to effectively lead a small team to a desired hardware solution that resolves complex design.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders across the functions, from suppliers to BAE manufacturing, to achieve the optimal design and manufacture of the product.
  • Exhibit sound interpersonal skills when interfacing and coordinating with company personnel, customers, and suppliers.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of duties while complying with policies, procedures, appropriate principles and applicable state and federal laws.
  • Ability to take ownership of Design-To-Cost (DTC) objectives in order to optimize overall final price targets


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 15+ years of related experience.
  • Experience with Battery Cell Packaging
  • Understanding of DO-311 Certifications
  • Knowledge of particular vendors within battery cell packaging.
  • Knowledge of 3D CAD software tools.


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $115100 - $195700

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
