Job Summary ETSU Quillen College of Medicine has secured a new in-patient gastroenterology service line and seeks applicants who are board-certified/eligible in Gastroenterology to join our new team of physicians on this service.
This role is exclusively for inpatient care and follows a schedule of 7 consecutive days on duty, followed by 7 days off. Call duties will be distributed among team members, with assignments determined by the Division Chief. The ideal candidate will have experience with ERCP/EUS, be dedicated to medical education, and have the flexibility to rotate between Holston Valley Medical Center and Bristol Regional Medical Center. Positions are contingent upon external funding.
United States residency is required.
This Inpatient Academic Gastroenterologist position involves a mix of clinical, educational, and administrative responsibilities. Responsibilities will include:
- Diagnose and treat patients with various gastroenterological conditions
- Conduct lectures, case discussions, and hands-on clinical training for the growth of future healthcare professionals
- Participate in performance improvement processes and Gastroenterology committee activities
- Collaborate with colleagues, Division Chief, and hospital personnel to enhance patient care
- Develop and maintain treatment protocols, best practice guidelines, and policies
- Oversee nurse practitioners and physician assistants in the Gastroenterology service
- Represent the hospital's Gastroenterology services with professionalism and a patient-centered focus
- Commitment to active involvement in outreach, injury prevention, educational activities, and supporting the hospital in emergency planning and disaster preparedness as needed.
