Summary of Position: 

The Executive Director of the Sierra Health Collaborative is an executive level leadership role that oversees all matters of the Collaborative and reports directly to the SHC Board of Directors. The Executive Director works directly with the founding members and other future affiliates to implement the strategic and operational plans approved by the Board.

Qualifications

Education:

• Master's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, nursing, medical or related field preferred.

• Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, nursing, medical or related field required.

Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in Health Systems Finance, Operations (clinical, support or operations), Operational or Strategic Consulting, Strategic Planning or Decision Support Analytics required

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Comprehensive and thorough understanding of all elements of health care delivery, including strategy, business planning, operations and finances.

• Understanding of health care industry changes, competitor actions, legal/regulatory changes and technological trends.

• Documented experience in building and maintaining C-Suite relationships, which includes the evidence of effective communication skills, including sound demonstrated ability in presenting (in person and remote)

• Documented experience in regional planning / networking and coordination of healthcare services.

• Coordinate and deliver effective presentations (verbal and written) to communicate project outcomes, recommendations, and strategy

• Ability to conduct analyses and oversee and mentor others in the delivery and production of deliverables

• Ability to constructively discuss issues by inviting varied perspectives and facilitating consensus; comfortable in making quick decisions when necessary as well as in conflict management. 

• Ability to lead work groups to support key priority areas.

Certifications/Licensure:

• Professional society fellowship preferred such as: American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) preferred.

• Normal office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate while in the office.

• On-site presence required as scheduled by the Board of Directors. 

• Travel as required to member organization sites as part of ongoing engagement, collaboration, and relationship-building.  

Essential Functions

1. Build the Collaborative's operating model and infrastructure (operations, finance, data collection and analysis, etc.)

2. Facilitate work teams across the Collaborative tailored to the strategic plan priority areas.

3. Create and follow a communication plan for members.

4. Build relationships across the SHC Board of Directors and throughout member organizations.

5. Meet with member executive teams and Boards as required.

6. Act as the main representative of the Collaborative to outside organizations.

7. Build relationships and pursue business partnerships specific to the strategic plan priority areas with the goal of establishing shared savings and other revenue generating opportunities for the Collaborative.

8. Develop and manage partnerships, vendor relationships, and contracts.

9. Keep official corporate records, including meeting minutes, policies, and key documents.

10. Establish a high value clinical network between members as directed by the Board to promote regional access to exceptional care.

11. Work with the Chair and Vice Chair to establish and follow the governance plan.

12. Prepare budget and finance materials and work within a Board approved budget.

13. Develop and facilitate the process for hiring additional staff as approved by the Board.

14. Develop an annual operational plan that will support the strategic plan with the necessary resources to achieve the 12–24-month goals of the Collaborative.

15. Work with designated legal counsel to maintain compliance with all relevant regulations and to mitigate any legal risk. 

16. Responds to the needs of the Collaborative by performing other duties, as necessary.
