About the department

Bassett Medical Center's Inpatient Surgical Unit is a 46-bed unit. Our staff exemplifies teamwork and we want you to join our team! We provide quality patient care to a wide variety of post-operative patients ranging from orthopedic, neurology, urology, general GI, plastics, vascular, bariatric, and more. You will learn and refine skills, and become an expert on wound care/vacs, NG tubes, feeding tubes, chest tubes, and CAPD to name a few. If you are interested in contributing to the recovery and healing process of a medical-surgical patient population, you don't want to miss this opportunity!

The Inpatient Surgical unit is consistently hiring for Registered Nurses with various shift and position types available. You will have the opportunity to provide us with your preferences during the application process so we can discuss specific positions in our conversations.


What you'll do

The Registered Professional Nurse (RN), Acute Care in the Inpatient Surgery unit is accountable for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process. The RN assesses, plans, delivers, coordinates, integrates, and evaluates nursing care related to patient's needs. The RN contributes to the support of patients through interdisciplinary teamwork.

  • Registered Nurse I: The RN I status is only appropriate for a new nurse in the first year of practice, as support from others in incorporated into this role as an expectation. Therefore, all RN I's are expected to complete the requirements of the Nurse Residency program and complete the application and credentialing process for successful advancement to RN II by 12-15 months after hire.
    • Salary Range: $36.76 - $55.13 per hour
  • Registered Nurse II: The RN II status requires at least 1-year experience as a RN, if experience is not relevant, RN II must complete RN residency program.
    • Salary Range: $38.24 - $57.36 per hour
  • Registered Nurse III: The RN II status requires 3 years' experience as an RN. One year of that experience must be within a relevant practice area. The RN III must be able to function as a preceptor and it is preferred that the applicant have previous experience as a charge/resource nurse.
    • Salary Range: $39.79 - $59.68 per hour
  • Registered Nurse IV: the RN IV status requires 5 year's RN experience. Applicants with an Associate's Degree must have 3 out of the 5 years' experience in a relevant practice area. Applicants with a Bachelor's or Master's degree must have 2 of the 5 years' experience in the relevant practice area. RNIV's must be able to perform as a preceptor and must have certification in area of practice required (this requirement is waived for candidates with BSN or MSN degree).
    • Salary Range: $41.39 - $62.09 per hour

What we need from you

Education:

  • 2 year / Associate Degree in Nursing, required or...
  • Vocational / Technical Diploma Professional Nursing Program, required or...
  • 4 year / Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred

All RN's hired and do not currently hold a BSN will be expected to demonstrate enrollment in a bachelor's prepared nursing program within 4 years of hire. BSN must be completed within 10 years. RN's licensed on or before 12/19/17 are/remain exempt from this requirement.

Experience:

  • New graduate or less than one year of experience as an Registered Nurse, required

License/ Certification:

  • NYS licensure as Registered Nurse or valid interim permit, required
  • BLS certification will be required within 6 months
  • Other certifications may be needed based on department requirements

Physical Requirements:

  • Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.

  • Frequent fit testing

We are also offering a sign-on bonus for this position! The bonus amounts are based on position type and are listed below. Additional details and eligibility requirements will be discussed during the interview process.   • Full Time: $35,000
  • Part Time: $17,500

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement. Pay Range Minimum: USD $36.76/Hr. Pay Range Maximum: USD $62.09/Hr.
