Baystate Health, western Massachusetts's premier healthcare provider and home to the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School – Baystate Health, is seeking a board-certified geriatrics-trained physician to join our growing Geriatric and Palliative Medicine Division in Springfield, Massachusetts.

This role is the Medical Director of the Baystate Medical Center Acute Care for Elders (ACE) unit – a nationally recognized geriatric care model that improves outcomes for older adult populations. Baystate's unit is one of 43 ACE units in the US, and the only one in Massachusetts. The robust Geriatric and Palliative Medicine division at Baystate continues to grow and develop ways to best care for geriatric patients in western Massachusetts.

Position Highlights:
  • Work closely with an Advanced Practice Provider to provide consultative services to the 39-bed unit, along with geriatric-trained staff consisting of social workers, pharmacists, nutritionists, and case managers
  • Act as an ACE ambassador to other hospital units and work to expand ACE to other system hospitals
  • Provide care as part of the hospital's geriatric service when coverage is needed
  • Interest in education and collaborative learning is desired – as an academic hospital, there are frequently residents, fellows, AP students, medical students, and nursing students on the unit
  • Our interprofessional teams receive great support from Baystate leadership and other departments – the ACE unit drives significant donations to the BH Foundation

Qualifications: Board certification in Geriatrics and a solid commitment to the Baystate values of collaboration, courage, quality and lifelong learning.
