Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Transfer Partnerships serves as a key leader within Academic Advising, responsible for cultivating and managing university partnerships that support student transfer and degree attainment. This position leads transfer-related initiatives, coordinates collaborative programs with four-year institutions, and works closely with faculty, advisors, and external partners to strengthen transfer pathways and improve student outcomes. The Assistant Director uses data-informed practices to improve transfer outcomes, advance equity in transfer access, and foster innovative partnerships that increase opportunities for students to achieve their educational goals.
This position reports to the Director of Academic Advising.
Pay, Benefits & Work SchedulePosition Salary Range: $78,777/year - $114,227/year
The salary information shown above is a general guideline only. The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience, as well as market and business considerations. Typically, new hire starts no higher than $87,639/year based on Bellevue College Exempt salary schedule.

The employee is scheduled to work 40 hours per workweek. This position may be eligible for overtime under the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Positions with salaries below the WA State Salary Threshold is eligible for overtime pay.

About the DepartmentTo provide equitable, personalized, and high-quality advising that empowers students to confidently navigate their educational journeys, access essential resources, make informed decisions, and achieve their academic, career, and personal goals. (Mission Statement, adopted May 2026). The Department is comprised of trained professionals who work directly with Bellevue College students to meet their goals. Academic Advising partners with and provides comprehensive and accurate information to students, faculty, and other staff in support of transfer and professional/technical academic programs, all structured within a Guided Pathways framework.
Essential FunctionsPartnership Development and University Relations
- Develop, maintain, and enhance collaborative partnerships with 4-year colleges to support student transfer opportunities including regular campus visits from partner representatives across the state and nation
- Serve as the primary liaison for university transfer partners to grow Bellevue College transfer services
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings with university representatives and the advising department to strengthen partnerships and address transfer related issues
- Support the development and maintenance of MOUs, articulation agreements, and transfer pathways in collaboration with academic departments and partner institutions
- Identify opportunities to expand transfer pipelines and increase transfer rates
- Continuously refine advising transfer models aligned with Guided Pathways, institutional priorities, and transfer requirements with the guidance of the Director
- Ensure alignment of services with divisional and institutional priorities
- Directly manage and oversee the Academic Advising and University Transfer Support websites to ensure all published information is up to date, while gathering input from Advising team, Director, campus, and university transfer partners
Transfer Programming and Student Success
- Lead the planning and implementation of transfer focused programs, workshops, and events, including transfer fairs, university visits, and transfer support initiatives through targeted outreach and communication strategies
- Collaborate with academic advisors and college staff to promote transfer readiness and degree completion
- Develop resources and communication strategies that assist students in navigating the transfer process
- Promote equitable transfer opportunities and support initiatives that improve transfer outcomes for historically underserved student populations
- Serve as a member of the statewide transfer advisor organization (NW STEP) attending bi-annual meetings as a representative of Bellevue College
Data, Assessment, and Reporting
- Monitor transfer trends and student outcomes to assess the effectiveness of transfer partnerships and programs
- Prepare reports and presentations related to transfer success metrics and partnership activities
- Use data to identify barriers to transfer and recommend process improvements
- Maintain records and documentation related to partnership agreements and transfer initiatives
Collaboration and Campus Engagement
- Partner with Academic Affairs to align pathway and degree requirements with transfer requirements to improve student success
- Represent Academic Advising on college committees, workgroups, and governance bodies
- Participate in Student Affairs meetings and cross-functional initiatives
- Assist in developing strategic initiatives that increase transfer rates and bachelor's degree attainment
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling or related field. Any combination of relevant education and/or experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
- Minimum of two (2) years of demonstrated experience advising transfer students in a community college setting or relaying information related to university transfer, admissions process, policies, articulations, and requirements.
- Demonstrated experience navigating institutional barriers and demonstrated ability to be an effective advocate for all students.
- Demonstrated initiative, project management and leadership skills.
- Ability to develop, implement, assess, and refine initiatives in deliberate, collaborative, timely, and effective manner.
- Experience in organizing and developing a team.
- Effective communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Demonstrated ability to use computers for data entry, web applications, searching the internet, and troubleshooting basic computer issues.
- Master's Degree in Education, Social Work, Counseling or related field.
- Demonstrated experience using multiple modalities and Universal Design principles in one-on-one and group advising settings.
- Demonstrated experience using degree audit systems, Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, or other advising-specific technology to monitor student progress.
- Demonstrated experience presenting and leading advising related workshops to students, college staff, and faculty.
- Experience working within an integrated academic and career advising department or system; ability to articulate the relationship between college major and career exploration.
