Cascadia College seeks two outstanding full-time tenure track Chemistry faculty members to support student success in STEM and allied health transfer programs. We are committed to excellence in teaching through active learning methodologies and student-centered instruction. These positions will lead curriculum development, implement Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs), and support the evolution of our chemistry programs.

Chemistry Specific
- Teach a variety of chemistry courses that could include a combination of Organic Chemistry, General Chemistry, Preparatory Chemistry, and General Organic and Biochemistry (GOB) with laboratory components
- Design and implement innovative laboratory curricula, preferably using Green Chemistry methodologies
- Engage collaboratively and proactively with lab support technicians, fellow faculty, and other lab personnel
- Develop and/or facilitate Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs) for Organic or General Chemistry Laboratory courses
Performs other related duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree in any of the traditional areas of Chemistry: Organic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Chemical Education from a regionally accredited college/university
- OR Bachelor's degree in Chemistry with a Masters degree in a related science field with at least twenty quarter hours (or equivalent) of demonstrated graduate-level coursework in a Chemical field
- Successful experience with non-traditional teaching methods and collaborative learning
- Successful experience teaching Organic or General laboratory Chemistry emphasizing safe lab practices
- Experience designing innovative assessment techniques and strategies for classroom assessment
- Demonstrated commitment to and interest in diversity, equity and inclusion and the ability to support a multicultural workplace and educational environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year full-time (or equivalent) community college-level Chemistry teaching experience
- Evidence of excellence in teaching each of the three quarters (or two semesters) of the full Organic Chemistry curriculum with lab OR the full General Chemistry curriculum with lab
- Evidence of excellence in teaching Introductory and Preparatory Chemistry or General Organic and Biological Chemistry (GOB), particularly with high-impact practices such as applied learning, collaborative learning, active learning, and/or community-based learning that show a commitment to global education and integrated learning
- Experience developing a comprehensive laboratory curriculum, preferably using Green Chemistry methodologies
- Experience in applying Organic Chemistry in a clinical, commercial, industrial, or research management setting
- Experience developing and/or facilitating CUREs for Organic or General Chemistry Laboratory

Physical Work Environment
Semi-Sedentary Work: Involves staying in a stationary position to a significant degree. Jobs are sedentary if moving is required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
The College is currently in hybrid operations, with many assignments completed in an online environment during this time. Full-time faculty are expected to maintain a physical presence on-campus that matches the expectations described in the current collective bargaining agreement. Employees will need to provide their own remote workspace and internet access, noting the College will provide technical equipment and support for online work needs. During on-campus operations, this position will perform work in a standard office setting, use standard office equipment and physically attend meetings both on and off campus and requires the ability to communicate in person or through appropriate means.
Positions in this class typically require operating a computer, communicating, observing, and repetitive motions.

- Requires ability to stand for extended periods during laboratory instruction
- May require occasional lifting of laboratory equipment and supplies

The salary will be based on the current faculty salary schedule; placement is based on education and related experience. The current range $78,718.19 - $97,054.10 annually for a 172-day appointment.
