Position Summary  

Under the direction of the Placement and Testing Associate Director, the Testing Assistant is responsible for proctoring various tests, assisting with data entry and other office duties.

This is a temporary part-time position, up to 20 hours per week.

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule  

Pay rate: $19.00 - $22.00/hour 

The successful candidate is expected to work up to 20 hours per week. This position typically assigned as needed on a quarterly basis, with no expectation of continued employment beyond the current appointment. 

The temporary hourly employment is limited to the earlier of 1,050 hours or 12 consecutive months beginning from the original date of hire. Per WAC 357-04-045, following 1,050 hours or 12 consecutive months, an individual is not eligible for re-employment at Bellevue College in another temporary part-time hourly position. Temporary hourly employees who work more than three hundred fifty (350) hours in a twelve consecutive month period may be subject to provisions of one the collective bargaining agreements covering Classified employees at Bellevue College.  

This position is expected to NOT be eligible for benefits because eligibility is limited only to employees working at least an average of 80 hours in eligible employment for more than 6 consecutive months and at least 8 hours a month. Eligible positions are eligible for certain benefits.

About the Department  

The Placement & Testing Services Office supports the mission of the college by using a student-centered approach, manages all processes related to English and Math placement and verifies completion of prerequisite courses for transfer students. In addition, the office offers a variety of testing services, including proctoring of class exams, administration of industry certification exams, GED testing, and other exam services as requested by the Academic Affairs Division. Regular office hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; student testing hours may vary based on testing schedules and operational needs. 

Essential Functions  
  • Provide proctoring services during scheduled testing hours. Check students in and verify identification, explain testing procedures, distribute and collect testing materials, monitor testing sessions and maintain a secure testing environment in accordance with Bellevue College testing standards. 
  • Provide front line customer service to students, faculty, staff, and other individuals by phone, email and in person. Provide accurate information regarding placement and testing services and procedures. 
  • Maintain confidentiality and security of student and testing information. 
  • Perform data entry and maintain accurate records using the Student Management System (CTC Link), Outlook, Excel, and other college systems. Scan and email student testing materials and perform other duties as needed for daily placement and testing operations. 
Minimum Qualifications  
  • Associate Degree or equivalent education and or relevant experience
  • One year customer Service experience 
  • Possess basic computer skills including MS Teams Outlook, Word, and other basic software. 
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills 
  • Good keyboarding skills
Preferred Qualifications  
  • Experience working in education or testing 
  • Bachelor's degree
