BMC Software are looking for a Senior Scala Architect to work on our Helix (Open) Telemetry and Helix Intelligent Integration products. We're looking for an experienced engineer well-versed in designing, creating and maintaining modern, cloud-native applications built on Kubernetes with Scala and ZIO.
Technology stack includes:
- Scala & ZIO
- Kubernetes-based microservices
- Arangodb
- Kafka
- Clickhouse
- Postgres
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to all stages of software development lifecycle
- Design, implement and maintain Scala-based applications that can be high-volume and low-latency
- Analyze user requirements to define business objectives
- Assist with pre-production and production application troubleshooting in both k8s and Docker
- Develop technical designs and communicate with other senior architects, product mangagement and development teams
- Write well designed, testable code
- Mentor more junior members of the team
Required:
- Proficiency in Scala, with a good understanding of its ecosystems
- Experience with modern effect systems for Scala such as ZIO, Monix, or Cats Effect
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Degree in Computer Science or relevant field
- Implementing automated build and testing frameworks
- Knowhow of Java or other concurrency patterns
- In-depth knowledge of code versioning tools, for instance, Git
- Usage of DevOps tools – Helm, kubectl, kustomize, ArgoCD
Nice to Have's:
- Knowledge of Open Telemetry or other APM
- Experience with development or administration functions of network and other system monitoring tools
- Development of REST API based integrations
