Description

As the Facilities Energy Lead, you will support Bob's Discount Furniture by coordinating energy-related facilities operations to ensure safe, efficient, and comfortable store environments. A key part of this role involves leveraging energy management systems (EMS) to monitor, diagnose, and troubleshoot HVAC and electrical issues in collaboration with service providers and store teams. You will also assist with capital energy projects, managing service requests for HVAC and electrical systems, and supporting the execution of operational energy initiatives across the store portfolio.

Core Competencies & Expertise

  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Use EMS platforms and internal tools to analyze energy performance data and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
    Monitor service requests and use available data to recommend resolution strategies.
  • Sustainability & Energy Management: Support implementation of energy initiatives including HVAC and lighting upgrades to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
    Modify EMS/BAS systems for special events or operational changes.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Work closely with stores, regional managers, and vendors to align maintenance work with energy strategy.
    Coordinate with service providers to ensure timely issue resolution.
  • Problem Solving: Respond to service requests via Service Channel, analyze root causes of issues, and manage emergency repairs with minimal business disruption.
    Provide on-call support for urgent HVAC/electrical needs during nights and weekends as needed.
  • Technical Proficiency: Understand building systems and energy management software. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and platforms such as Service Channel.
     

Preferred Competencies & Skills

  • Familiarity with energy management systems (EMS/BAS) and work order platforms such as Service Channel.
  • Strong foundational knowledge of HVAC and electrical systems, and the ability to apply that understanding to remotely troubleshoot issues.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., Facilities Management, Environmental Science, Energy Systems) or equivalent work experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • 1–2 years of experience in facilities coordination, energy, or sustainability preferred.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
  • This is a Monday–Friday position with occasional on-call nights and weekends.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
