Pay Rate: $20.50

Job Summary:

The Operations Agent – Messenger Trainee (further - Trainee) will be enrolled in 12-24 months long training program aimed to develop skills and knowledge required for Brink's CDL Class B License Driver – Messenger. Upon completion of the program the Trainee will become Brink's CDL Class B Driver – Messenger. The Trainee will be enrolled in various training programs based on qualifications and assigned to work in various operations departments. The Trainee is responsible for a variety of tasks which are focused on  supporting and also conducting the following:

Escorting customer cargo/liability to and from plane side to cargo buildings, customer locations, governmental agencies such as CBP as well as, but not limited to/from the Brinks facilities while providing armed security for the same. This position functions in an armed environment and requires the enforcement of rules to protect the premises and property of Brink's.  Additionally, this role functions to protect and ensure the safety of customer and armored vehicles in transit, as well as the safety of persons on the premises of Brink's and its customers, including armored vehicles as well as any liabilities.  Finally this position requires the selected candidate to be able to provide outstanding customer service to all BGS customers when delivering liability and assisting them with their shipping needs.

The individuals will also be required to assist/support in the day to day operations at the branch which includes, vault and sort operations, brokerage, export and imports at our JFK Airport location. This position requires the enforcement of rules to protect the premises and property of Brink's and its customers, as well as the safety of persons on the premises of Brink's and its customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive various Brink's vehicles based on driver's license qualifications.
  • Load and unload shipments.
  • Process shipments in accordance with company policies and procedures, fill in paperwork as required, and enter data in hand-held electronic devices and using PC.
  • Perform item verifications and work closely with areas of the operations ensuring all liability is appropriately accounted for and related paperwork is accurate.
  • Ensure all customer requests are appropriately serviced and that all issues are brought to the attention of the Supervisor or Manager. 
  • Enter all relevant customer data and ensure that information for each shipment is accurately completed using division software.
  • Control the movement of shipments within each areas, and the appropriate handling.   
  • Work with various software programs as necessary and maintain the security of all.
  • Receive daily delivery routes and work closely with branch leadership to ensure all paperwork and liability related documentation is accurate prior to leaving the branch.
  • Provide secured delivery of all customer liability and ensure that each customer receives outstanding level of service during each transaction/interaction.
  • Ensure that all liability is appropriately secured and maintained inside and outside the company vehicle.
  • Assist the location Sort Operation as necessary in the movement of liability and other secured valuables from the facility to the vehicles and back.
  • Ensure that all DOT regulations are maintained and followed as well as all traffic regulations and relative guidelines.
  • Enforce and report all security or safety violations to the Supervisor of Operations or Operations Manager as well as any unusual and suspicious situations that have occurred during daily assignments.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Minimum 1 year of experience and Driving License.
  • A valid firearms permit or ability to pass applicable firearms licensing requirements
  • A valid guard card or ability to obtain a guard card or any other required licenses
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds on a consistent and regular basis throughout the assigned shift
  • Ability to work weekends and flexible schedule including evenings and where necessary holidays.
  • Individual will be enrolled in Operations Agent - Messenger Trainee training program. Length of the training program will be up to 24 months.  During this period, which will be paid and sponsored by the company, will require the person to obtain a Class B CDL License.  All applicable pay and benefits will be applicable during this training period.
  • Ability to apply for and obtain an Armed Guard License as well as willing and able to become an Armed Person in a dual roles as a Messenger or driver and compensated accordingly.
  • Flexibility to work at multiple locations in the Tri-State area

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Internal logistics process experience preferred.
  • Ideally 1 year of logistics/freight forwarding or similar experience in positions of increasing responsibility which include but are not limited to sortation reconciliation, maintenance of the shipping process, logistics/vault audits and operational process management.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Microsoft Office and logistics software experience
  • External logistics experience in shipping sortation or secured vaulting operation in a fast paced dynamic environment.
  • Good basic math skills
  • Ability to operate in a fast paced – multi task driven environment
