SCHEDULE: 2-8 hours shifts a month
The Ottumwa Job Corps. Center, a residential, federally funded training program with the capacity to accommodate 237 enrollees aged 16-24, is at this time requesting proposals for an on-site Licensed Dentist at the center. The Ottumwa Center is operated by Career Systems Development Corporation under contract with the U.S. Department of Labor and is located in Ottumwa, Iowa.
The Center must provide an On-Site Licensed Dentist 8 hours per week. We have one Dentist working 2 days and need another to work the remaining 2 days. The hours scheduled must be approved by the Center. Subcontractor must receive written approval from the Center Director to perform additional hours and to perform service during Center holidays and vacation schedules.
The Center must provide basic dental services, as described below:
The general emphasis of the Oral Health and Wellness Program must be on early detection, diagnosis of oral health problems, basic oral-health care, dental hygiene, and prevention/education (e.g., oral hygiene instructions, caries risk assessments, the relationship between oral health and employability, oral health and wellness plans).
1. Assessment and diagnosis, to include:
- Dental readiness inspection within 14 days after entry to identify urgent care need for oral conditions that if not treated are expected to result in dental emergencies in the near future.
Elective oral examination upon student request, including x-rays to precede dental treatment. Dental procedures to treat oral disease and correct oral health conditions that may represent employability barriers. Specific procedures include:
- Restorations
- Extraction of pathological teeth
- Root canal therapy on anterior/other strategic teeth
- Replacement of missing upper anterior teeth with a removable prosthesis
Dental hygiene treatment that involves nonsurgical periodontal care to treat periodontal disease.
Requirements:Minimum: A copy of the license to practice in the State of Iowa. Current copies of required professional certifications and/or authorizations for Licensed Physician. In the event of a vacation or other scheduled absence, provide the Center with a minimum of ten (10) working days' notice and a written plan as to how the Services won't be effected. Current DEA registration
Preferred: Board certification preferred
