- THIS POSITION REQUIRES A FULL 3 YEARS OF ICU EXPERIENCE TO BE CONSIDERED.
- Travelers could also float to the sister facility Mercy Gilbert, if needed.
- Typically, every other weekend is required but might have to work 3 weekends a month if unit is busy and needs extra coverage.
- Flexibility is a must.
- Travelers must pass a dysrhythmia exam upon offer with 2 max attempts.
- There is also a pass/fail Sim Lab on Day 1 of orientation (study guides will be provided with the first day instructions).
- COVID vaccine is required or declination form with appropriate documentation AND hospital approval.
- Job Requirements
- A full 3 years of current ICU experience.
- Holding an active BLS, ACLS, NIHSS and AZ license or compact license (TNCC is preferred).
- Must pass a dysrhythmia exam upon offer with 2 max attempts.
- Pass/fail Sim Lab on Day 1 of orientation.
- Schedule Information
- Every other weekend is required.
- Flexibility with scheduling, may have to work 3 weekends a month.
- Self-scheduling possible, but manager may need to balance shifts for unit needs.
- Unit Specific Information
- Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:2, 1:1.
- Charge Nurse: Yes, do not take patients.
- Tele/Monitor Techs on unit: No; RN required to interpret own strip with GE monitors.
- Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy.
- Unit/Department specific orientation: 1-2 days.
- Common diagnoses/Types of patients include Level 1 trauma cases, COVID, sepsis, ARDS, etc.
- RNs required to titrate drips: Yes.
- Common titratable and/or set rate drips include Propofol, fentanyl, versed, precedex, etc.
- Additional Details
- ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certifications are required.
- Experience must also include EITHER neuro or CV.
- UNA Dysrhythmia Exam required 24-48hrs PRIOR TO ACCEPTANCE of a position.
- Traveler must validate skills for trauma, neuro and specialty devices as needed.
- Sister units are a medical/cardiac 36 bed ICU & 12 bed overflow ICU.
- Expectation is to float between all 3 ICUs.
- Okay with first-time traveler, however, must have 3 years experience with 2 of those years in the ICU.
- Level 1 trauma experience or neuro experience not required but preferred.
- Prefer prior experience working at a similar size unit ICU.
