  • A large system in Nebraska/Iowa are looking for Night PCU RN's.
  • 12 hour shifts, 36 hours guaranteed.
  • 2 years of unit experience.
  • Looking for someone who is flexible and willing to learn as well as take feedback along the way.
  • Successful nurse is a team player, flexible, adaptable, and has good communication skills.
  • Different cultural populations are served on this unit- primarily Hispanic and Somalian.

    Schedule Information
  • 12 hour shifts, 36 hours guaranteed.
  • Shifts & Scheduling: 0630-1830, 1830-0630 / Smart Square online scheduling.
  • Weekend Requirements: Every third.
  • Holiday Requirements: Rotating with perm staff.
  • Floating Requirements: Yes to MedSurg or to ICU to take PCU acuity patients.
    Unit Specific Information
  • Department: PCU
  • Beds: 40 beds with an average daily census of 24.
  • Ratios: 1:4-5 both days and nights.
  • Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Adults, Cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer diagnosis, vascular, sepsis, adult respiratory, stroke, post stent, post pacer placement, renal failure.
  • Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes.
  • Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, insulin.
  • Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment?: Yes.
  • Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties?: Yes, 1:12.
  • RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides troubleshooting?: High flow.
  • Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors?: RNs must read and interpret.
  • Scrub Color/Dress code: Navy Blue.
  • How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation?: 1 week.
    Additional Details
  • WILL NOT APPROVE BLOCKED SCHEDULING OR SAME SCHEDULE/SHIFTS, MUST BE FLEXIBLE AND WILLING TO FLOAT AND WORK WHEN NEEDED.
  • Overhead lifts in half the rooms, portable lifts, vein finders, bladder scanner.
  • Focus on patient experience scores, responsiveness, hospital environment, and communication about medications.
  • Radius Rule: 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.
  • RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
