  • A large system in Nebraska/Iowa are looking for Night PCU RN's
  • 12 hour shifts, 36 hours guaranteed
  • 2 years of unit experience
    Job Requirements

  • 2 years of unit experience
  • WILL NOT APPROVE BLOCKED SCHEDULING OR SAME SCHEDULE/SHIFTS, MUST BE FLEXIBLE AND WILLING TO FLOAT AND WORK WHEN NEEDED
  • Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, insulin
  • RN must read and interpret tele strips
    Schedule Information
  • 12 hour shifts, 36 hours guaranteed
  • Shifts & Scheduling: 0630-1830, 1830-0630 / Smart Square online scheduling
  • Weekend Requirements: Every third
  • Holiday Requirements: Rotating with perm staff
    Unit Specific Information
  • Bed count: 40 beds with average daily census of 24
  • Ratios: 1:4-5 both days and nights
  • Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Cardiac med/surg, dialysis, cancer diagnosis, vascular, sepsis, adult respiratory, stroke, post stent, post pacer placement, renal failure
  • Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes
  • Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Yes
  • Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? Yes, 1:12
  • RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot? High flow
  • Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? Yes
  • Scrub Color/Dress code: Navy Blue
  • How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation? 1 week
  • Looking for someone who is flexible and willing to learn as well as take feedback along the way
  • A nurse on this unit is successful if they are a team player, are flexible and adaptable, and have good communication skills
    Additional Details
  • Overhead lifts in half the rooms, portable lifts, vein finders, bladder scanner
  • Focus on patient experience scores, responsiveness, hospital environment, and communication about medications
  • Different cultural populations are served on this unit- primarily Hispanic and Somalian
  • RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
