About the Java Development Team:

In the bustling landscape of our retail technology department, the Java Development Team stands out as a beacon of innovation and agility. What You Will Be Immersing Yourself In:

As a Senior DevOps Engineer embedded within the Java Development Team, you will be the linchpin that bridges development and operations, ensuring a seamless flow from code to deployment. Your role is crucial in maintaining the pulse of our agile development environment, ensuring that our next-generation retail platform is not only cutting-edge but also reliable and resilient. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Orchestrating Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): You will architect, implement, and optimize CI/CD pipelines tailored for Java-based applications, ensuring rapid and reliable deployment cycles that align with agile development practices.

  • Environment Management: Craft and manage development, testing, and production environments in the cloud, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and optimized for Java applications.

  • Collaboration and Guidance: Work closely with the Java development team to embed DevOps practices into the development lifecycle, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and efficiency.

  • Monitoring and Performance Tuning: Implement comprehensive monitoring solutions to track application performance, custom-tailored for Java environments, and use this data to continually optimize system performance.

  • Incident Management: Lead the charge in incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for any infrastructure or deployment issues within the Java ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain sophisticated CI/CD pipelines that cater specifically to Java-based retail applications, ensuring smooth and swift transitions from development to production.

  • Architect cloud-based environments that are finely tuned for Java applications, focusing on scalability, security, and performance.

  • Champion best practices in security, leveraging the latest in cloud security frameworks and tools to safeguard our applications and data.

  • Guide the team in cloud-native development practices, helping to transition traditional Java applications to cloud-optimized solutions.

  • Facilitate the adoption of serverless architectures and microservices, particularly within the Java ecosystem, to enhance scalability and performance.

  • Lead by example, offering mentorship and guidance to junior DevOps and development team members, fostering a collaborative and learning-oriented environment.

What We Expect from You:
  • Proven Experience: At least 5+ years in a DevOps role with a significant portion dedicated to environments running Java applications.

  • Java Ecosystem Expertise: Deep understanding of Java development practices, tools, and frameworks, with experience in optimizing CI/CD pipelines for Java applications.

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Proficiency in IaC tools such as Terraform, with experience in managing cloud infrastructure for Java environments.

  • Containerization and Orchestration: Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or similar technologies, with a focus on deploying and managing containerized Java applications.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a knack for pinpointing and resolving issues in complex Java application environments.

  • Agile Advocate: Strong belief in agile methodologies and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, iterative development culture.

  • Communication: Fluent in English with outstanding communication skills, capable of collaborating effectively in a diverse, multinational team setting.

Nice-to-Have:
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications in DevOps, cloud platforms, and possibly Java (e.g., Azure DevOps Solutions Certification).

  • Microservices Architecture: Experience in designing and implementing microservices architectures, particularly within Java environments.

  • Advanced Monitoring Tools: Knowledge of advanced monitoring and logging tools tailored for Java applications (e.g., Azure Monitor/App Insights/Log analytics workspace, ELK stack, Dynatrace, New Relic).

  • Knowledge of ArgoCD, Github Actions, Azure services: Azure Front Door, Azure API Management
