BUSINESS ANALYST REPORTING LEAD
WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? Will be responsible for the Royal Bank of Canada ("RBC") template production process and other projects related to data integrity and reporting process improvements. Will participate in the data gathering, monitoring, balancing, preparation, and submission of all required template reporting to our parent company, RBC, to support consolidated financial and regulatory reporting requirements. Financial reporting includes monthly, calendar quarter, fiscal quarter and annual template submissions to RBC. Responsibilities include understanding template reporting requirements, obtaining data extracts, performing data analysis, preparing certain templates, monitoring the template process to ensure all templates are submitted timely and maintaining necessary mapping and process documentation. Supports financial regulatory reporting initiatives related to process improvements, report automation, policies and procedures documentation and other special projects when needed.
What you will do
- Lead the preparation and submission of RBC reporting templates and supporting documentation within established deadlines.
- Manage timing of template completion by all parties to ensure that all templates are prepared and filed on a timely basis within RBC deadlines.
- Review and identify errors and issues in data contained in the templates and supporting documentation prepared by team members and work with RBC to correct mapping issues when identified. Support data providers as they work toward resolution of found errors and issues.
- Stay current on new or changing RBC template requests and obtain clarity from RBC when needed on reporting requirements
- Implement new and changing RBC template reporting requirements, including the establishing of new processes or enhancements and automation of existing processes. Prepare associated memos and supporting documentation.
- Lead special projects in the RBC template reporting function, including the planning, design, and development of workflows and surrounding data gathering and analysis.
- Support maintenance of change management controls and preserve data lineage to mitigate reporting risks.
- Work closely with system developers to define specifications and provide feedback for process enhancements.
- Perform detailed testing for implementation of automated processes and provide post-implementation support.
- Collaborate within the Controllers department to implement process changes and reduce manual production efforts.
- Assist with Controllers department strategic initiatives to streamline and transform accounting operations.
- Develop compelling, well designed and automated dashboards that support financial and management reporting.
- Assist with other special projects, including initiatives from RBC, as requested.
Must-Have*
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- 7+ years of experience in the financial analysis or reporting experience required.
- 3+ years of experience in the banking or Financial Services industry
- 3+ years of experience as an analyst supporting medium to large size projects
Skills and Knowledge
- Experience with database management applications, GL systems, query tools (PeopleSoft, Business Objects, etc.),
- Experience with SQL and Tableau.
- Knowledge of Alteryx, Snowflake, and PowerQuery highly desirable.
- Advanced experience in Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to accurately, thoroughly, and efficiently analyze a high data volume and organize analyzed data into simple, complete and concise presentation formats
- Ability to identify the issue, separate symptoms from causes, and research thoroughly to derive supportable conclusions.
- Ability to work independently and manage numerous priorities simultaneously, working under tight deadlines.
- Excellent verbal/written communication skills and strong analytical skills required.
- Adapts procedures, processes and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the position.
- Must be able to think through complex problems and develop solutions
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals.
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and excellent work ethic
- May serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.
