BUSINESS BANKING PORTFOLIO MANAGER
WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? Primary responsibility is to work directly with assigned business banking clients on a daily basis in the appropriate business segment and/or geographic areas in handling all areas of relationship management with these clients. Manages overall relationship profitability and portfolio risk and is responsible for profitable growth of the assigned portfolio, while ensuring CNB credit quality and risk management guidelines are maintained. This may be accomplished through active calling efforts, by providing the CNB exemplary level of service, identifying and promoting solutions to customer needs, and maintaining an active client calling program. Average Portfolio size will be between 75-150 Relationships depending on complexity and scope of the portfolio. Overall, the assigned portfolio will have Clients with less complex credit needs.Additional responsibilities include working directly with business bankers on a daily basis in handling all areas of portfolio management in their assigned Region/Team. This entails developing, maintaining, and managing a proactive process to ensure all Bank and Regulatory requirements are met in a timely manner. Supports annual review, maturing loans, and renewal process of assigned Region/Team. Provide appropriate reporting and communication to Regional Leadership on a frequent basis to address the status of financial reporting requirements, loan/line maturities and renewals, past due payments/loans/lines, any documentation requirements (Memos to Credit, Notice of Defaults, Temporary Waivers, etc.) and other miscellaneous reporting as deemed necessary.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Works closely with existing clients to understand their specific financial requirements and provide effective solutions, while maintaining the credit quality standards of the bank.
  • Prepares a Relationship Plan and calling schedule for each client. Develops a strong understanding of company, industry, business and needs to assist in client calling efforts. Sets objectives for each relationship in terms of cross sell opportunity and revenue contribution, etc.
  • Calls on existing clients to discuss and promote all Bank products and services in order to establish a total client banking relationship. Discusses financing opportunities and general business conditions; may assist in forecasting clients' credit needs and develops solutions to serve their financial needs. Brings in product specialists, as necessary, to help problem solve or structure transactions.
  • Maintains awareness of competitive products, practices, rates and changes in market conditions.
  • Functions as part of a cohesive unit to service client transactions and is responsible for maintaining and increasing portfolio profitability while prudently managing risk.
  • Fully functional in delivering all components related to business client relationships, including additional account integration, service requests, and risk management. Responsible for appropriately profiling clients during the relationship review process and actively identifies cross sell opportunities of CNB products and services.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage a proactive portfolio management process to ensure all Regulatory requirement are met.
  • Provide necessary reporting related to portfolio management frequently to Business Banking Leadership and Line Colleagues in assigned Region/Team.
  • Actively engages and works with clients in the collection of all financial items to ensure clients stay within City National Bank's required loan covenants as stated in client loan documents.
  • Ensures that decisions made are consistent with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as applicable regulations, and that the risk associated with those decisions can be effectively managed.
  • Responsible for overseeing the process for renewals, annual reviews, document tickler and covenant tracking of loans in assigned Region.
  • Monitors portfolio for quality, risk and adherence to policy. Works with the appropriate staff departments to resolve issues.
  • Complies fully with all Bank Operational and Credit policies and procedures as well as all regulatory requirements (e.g. Bank Secrecy Act, Know Your Client, Community Reinvestment Act, Fair Lending Practices, Code of Conduct, etc.).

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
Required Qualifications*
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 7 years of banking experience required.
  • Minimum 4 years of commercial banking experience within the segment required.
  • Minimum 5 years of credit or credit related experience required.
  • Minimum 3 year of cross-selling experience required
  • Minimum 3 years customer service experience required

  • Working knowledge of Bank operations, policies and procedures and regulatory compliance.
  • Good understanding of all products and services applicable to target client segment.
  • Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU? Compensation Starting base salary: $78,970 - $126,140 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
